Turner Landscape Fell Race

The Turner Landscape Fell Race is a fell running event around Turner Hall Farm in the Lake District. The course is approximately 17 kilometres (10.6 miles) with 906 metres (2,972 ft) of ascent and visits checkpoints on the summits of Grey Friar, The Old Man of Coniston, Dow Crag and White Pike. The route largely follows the east side of the Duddon Valley; navigation is described as fairly straightforward and the running lines are fast.

All entrants must have fell-running experience and the ability to use a traditional map and compass. The race is held under FRA rules; minimum mandatory kit is checked at registration and must be carried for the entire event. Mandatory items include a waterproof jacket with taped seams and hood, waterproof trousers, map and compass (traditional, not electronic), whistle, hat that covers the ears or a buff, insulating gloves and emergency food. The use of GPS devices is forbidden except in an emergency, in which case the competitor must declare themselves non-competitive at the finish. Running or walking poles are not permitted.

Practical details include an entry limit of 200 competitors, no entries on the day, parking and registration at Turner Hall Farm with a £3 cash parking charge, and camping available at the farm by arrangement. Water will be provided but competitors should bring their own cups; no food will be available. Proceeds from entries and parking are donated to Alzheimer's Research UK.
