Saddleworth Res's

Saddleworth Res's is a set of unmarked moorland running routes that start and finish at Saddleworth Cricket Club in Greenfield, Oldham. Participants must navigate themselves around the chosen course and visit each checkpoint in the correct order. Routes pass across high moor and include boggy sections, paving slabs and a boulder field on the longer courses.

Distances offered:

  • 5 Res's : 26 km, 692 m ascent.
  • 10 Res's : 43 km, 1379 m ascent.
  • 15 Res's : 62 km, 1981 m ascent.

The event offers multiple support points, with at least one indoor venue on each course. Some courses include indoor checkpoints. Open Tracking devices will be used so progress can be followed live and monitored by organisers for safety. Professional medical and mountain rescue cover is provided.

Entry requirements include minimum ages for each course and mandatory kit. Required items include a whole waterproof body cover with taped seams and hood, hat and gloves, an extra long sleeve layer, a physical map plus compass and whistle, a simple first aid kit, and adequate water and food supplies. Headtorch, survival bag and extra clothing are required for the longer routes. GPS devices are allowed but routes are not flagged and require navigational skill.

Event fees include venue facilities, refreshments before and after the run, live timing, and an optional map or technical T-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
