Saddleworth Res's events
Saddleworth Res's is a series of off‑road races across high moorland and valleys in the Saddleworth area. The courses visit local reservoirs and use a mixture of paved paths, tracks, boulder fields, stream crossings and boggy ground. Routes include marked checkpoints and aid stations with food; the 5 Res's event finishes with an indoor checkpoint before the final valley return.
- 5 Res's trail run, 26 km with 692 m ascent
- 10 Res's off‑road marathon, 43 km with 1379 m ascent
- 15 Res's ultra marathon, 62 km with 1981 m ascent
Minimum ages apply for each distance: 17 for the 5 Res's, 18 for the 10 Res's and 20 for the 15 Res's. Entry fees for 2026 are listed as £35 for the 5 Res's, £42 for the 10 Res's and £52 for the 15 Res's. The price includes refreshments, Open Tracking timing, professional medical and rescue cover and a post event meal.
The event is based at Saddleworth Cricket Club, Calf Lane, Friezland, Greenfield, Oldham OL3 7HY. New races were introduced from 2025 and the event continues to run annual editions with published route maps and GPX files for each distance.
