Saddleworth Res's takes place on Saturday 7 March 2026 at Saddleworth Rangers Rugby Club in Greenfield, Oldham (OL3 7LD). The event uses high moorland terrain around Saddleworth, visiting local reservoirs and a mixture of paved paths, tracks and boggy ground. Routes are not marked and participants must navigate themselves and visit all checkpoints in the correct order. Open Tracking will be used to provide live tracking and timing. Checkpoints and support points include at least one indoor venue on each course. The event fee includes refreshments, live timing and a post-event meal.

Routes and requirements

  • 5 Res's - 25 km, 710 m ascent. Minimum age 17.
  • 10 Res's - around 44 km, about 1,300 m ascent. Minimum age 18.
  • 15 Res's - 60 km, 1,876 m ascent. Minimum age 20.

All routes require participants to carry mandatory kit including a whole waterproof body cover, hat and gloves, spare long sleeve top, paper map, compass and whistle, basic first aid, survival bag, extra food and water, and a headtorch with spare batteries (headtorch not required on the 5 Res's route).
