The Saddleworth Res's is a moorland trail event on Saturday 7 March 2026, based at Saddleworth Rangers Rugby Club, Shaw Hall Bank Road, Greenfield, Oldham OL3 7LD. The event offers off-road trail, marathon and ultra marathon courses that visit local reservoirs and high moorland terrain. Routes include paved paths, tracks, boulder fields, stream crossings and areas of bog; courses are not waymarked and require self-navigation. Open Tracking timing and live results will be used. Entry fees include refreshments, Open Tracking timing and a post-event meal.

Courses and requirements

  • 5 Res's - 25 km, 710 m ascent, 2 checkpoints
  • 10 Res's - 44 km, 1,314 m ascent, 3 checkpoints
  • 15 Res's - 60 km, 1,876 m ascent, 5 checkpoints, 12-hour limit

Minimum ages are 17 for the 5 Res's, 18 for the 10 Res's, and 20 for the 15 Res's. Some checkpoints are indoors; participants must visit checkpoints in the correct order. Included for entrants: venue facilities with showers, pre-race tea/coffee and toast, support points, medical and mountain rescue standby, and a post-race pie and peas meal. Mandatory kit includes full waterproof body cover, hat and gloves, spare long-sleeve top, paper map with compass and whistle, simple first-aid kit, survival bag, headtorch with spare batteries (not required on the 5 Res's), extra food and water, and other weather-appropriate clothing.
