Saddleworth Res's events
The Saddleworth Res's event on 7 March 2026 is a moorland trail meeting based at Saddleworth Cricket Club, Calf Lane, Friezland, Greenfield, Oldham OL3 7HY. It offers three route options over high moorlands and valleys visiting local reservoirs and varied underfoot conditions.
- 5 Res's Trail Run: 26 km, 692 m ascent.
- 10 Res's Off Road Marathon: 43 km, 1379 m ascent.
- 15 Res's Ultra Marathon: 62 km, 1981 m ascent.
Routes combine paved paths, tracks, boggy sections, boulder fields and stream crossings. The 5 Res's route includes two checkpoints with the final checkpoint indoors. The 10 Res's route features multiple checkpoint food stations and the event mentions the CraggRunner "tipple" at checkpoints. The 15 Res's route passes through the boulder field, north to Castleshaw, then to Marsden and follows the 10 Res's line over Black Hill and Toolyshaw Moor to Crowden before a final climb to Laddow Rocks and the return.
Entry fees are listed as £35 for 5 Res's, £42 for 10 Res's and £52 for 15 Res's. Fees include refreshments, Open Tracking Timing, professional medical and rescue cover and a post event meal.
