Event overview

Saddleworth Res's is a moorland trail event held on Saturday 7 March 2026 in Greenfield, Oldham. The event visits local reservoirs and uses mainly off-road paths, tracks and moorland terrain. Routes are unmarked and participants must navigate the advertised route and visit checkpoints in the correct order. Live tracking will be used for timing and spectator tracking. The event includes checkpoint refreshments, at least one indoor checkpoint on each course, and a post-event meal.

Routes and entry

  • 5 Res's - 25 km, 710 m ascent; minimum age 17
  • 10 Res's - 44 km, 1,314 m ascent; minimum age 18
  • 15 Res's - 60 km, 1,876 m ascent; minimum age 20

Pre-entry is required. Entries open 1 April 2025 and close 22 February 2026. Entry fees are published for each course with a small member discount. Optional items include a printed map and a technical T-shirt. Entries listed so far show 130 participants.

Safety, kit and services

Full kit is required for longer courses. Mandatory equipment includes waterproof body cover, hat and gloves, spare top, paper map, compass and whistle, basic first aid, survival bag, headtorch and spare batteries (not required on the 5 Res's), and extra food and water. Professional medical and mountain rescue cover will be on standby. GPS devices are allowed. Final event details and route materials are provided to entrants before the event. Calverley Chaos is a Christmas edition 12 km trail race along the Calverley Millennium Way, taking in canal towpath and countryside views and based at The Railway Inn in Leeds. Entry is limited to 100 runners so book early.
