Saddleworth Res's is a trail event at Saddleworth Cricket Club, Calf Lane, Friezland, Greenfield, OL3 7HY on 7 March 2026. The routes run across high moorland around Saddleworth Moor and visit local reservoirs. Routes are not flagged and each participant must navigate the advertised route and visit all checkpoints in the correct order. The event uses Open Tracking for live tracking and results. Support includes staffed checkpoints with refreshments, at least one indoor checkpoint on each course, a post-event meal, and on-call medical and mountain rescue cover. No dogs are allowed under TRA rules.

Courses

  • 5 Res's - about 25–26 km, ~700 m ascent.
  • 10 Res's - about 38–44 km, ~1,200–1,379 m ascent.
  • 15 Res's - about 60–62 km, ~1,876–1,981 m ascent.

Entry, rules and kit

Pre-entry is required and entries close before the event; entries were recorded for the event in advance. Minimum ages are 17 for the 5 Res's, 18 for the 10 Res's, and 20 for the 15 Res's. Participants may change course before entries close; on-the-day course swaps before starting are not permitted. GPS devices are allowed. Required kit includes whole waterproof body cover, spare long-sleeve top, hat and gloves, paper map and compass, whistle, simple first-aid kit, survival bag, headtorch with spare batteries (not required on the 5 Res's), extra food and water, and a plastic mug.
