Saddleworth Res's Events

Saddleworth Res's offers three distinct trail running distances that navigate through the high moorlands and valleys of the Saddleworth area. The courses traverse a variety of terrain including paved paths, tracks, boulder fields, and moorland bogs. All events start and finish at the Saddleworth Cricket Club in Greenfield, Oldham.

Participants can choose from three distance options:

  • 5 Res's Trail Run: A 26 km course with 692 meters of ascent. It passes the reservoirs of Dovestones and features the boulder field at Rimmons Clough before reaching flatter terrain.
  • 10 Res's Off-Road Marathon: A 43 km route with 1379 meters of ascent. This course includes stream crossings and leads runners through the local moorland landscape.
  • 15 Res's Ultra Marathon: A 62 km ultra marathon with 1981 meters of ascent. The route extends north to Castleshaw and Marsden, crossing Black Hill and Toolyshaw Moor toward Crowden before returning via Laddow Rocks.

The event provides Open Tracking timing for all participants. The entry fee includes refreshments at checkpoints, professional medical and rescue cover, and a post-event meal at the venue. Minimum age requirements are set at 17 for the 26 km, 18 for the 43 km, and 20 for the 62 km ultra marathon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
