Eccles Pike Fell Race
The Eccles Pike Fell Race is a long-standing competition with a history spanning over 100 years. Organized by the Goyt Valley Striders, this event is classified as a category AS fell race. The course is characterized by its short distance and demanding elevation gain, taking participants through the terrain of the High Peak region.
The race consists of a single distance:
- 5.5 km (3.4 miles) with 275 m (901 ft) of total ascent.
The event headquarters is located at the Buxworth Memorial Club on Station Road, which serves as the base for number collection on the day of the race. The facility is situated in close proximity to both the start and finish lines. Due to the race's history and popularity, the event frequently reaches its capacity limit, making advance registration necessary as entries on the day are unlikely.
Parking is available at a large car park located at the Tesco store on the canal, approximately 1 km from the venue. Participants are advised against blocking the race route when seeking local parking. Registered runners receive a detailed brief via email prior to the event containing further logistical instructions. Participants must be between the ages of 16 and 89 to enter, and members of the Fell Runners Association (FRA) are eligible for a small entry fee discount.
