Course description and format

The route starts on forest trails with an initial flat section that soon leads to a woodland ascent with tree roots underfoot. A short tarmac section gives way to an extended lane climb of more than a mile, followed by a descent through technical wooden trails and muddy sections. The course partly retraces earlier paths before a further climb through woods. The final ascent rises to the Oker Trig Point on a steep 1:3 incline, from where the finish area is visible and there are views across the Derwent Valley. The closing section follows a skyline toward the Oker Tree, includes a few technical descents, crosses a final stile and finishes on a field with visible finish flags. Recorded course best times are 00:27:18 (male, 2010) and 00:31:50 (female, 2024). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
