Holme Moss Fell Race

Holme Moss Fell Race is an open fell race organised by Holmfirth Harriers on Pennine moorland near Holmfirth. The course covers 28.5 km (17.8 miles) with approximately 1,285 m (4,215 ft) of ascent and is classed as a category AL fell race. Race headquarters and finish are at Cartworth Moor Cricket Club, Holmfirth.

The route crosses open, often trackless moorland and includes rocky climbs, river crossings and remote sections. Navigation skills and local knowledge are important because parts of the route are not fully flagged. Checkpoints and drinks stations are provided at named locations including Holme Moss, Crowden, Laddow Rocks and Black Hill. Runners should be capable of completing the course within the organiser's expected time and must obey marshals and cut-off instructions.

Entry is limited to 200 runners and the minimum age is 18. Advance entry fees are listed for FRA members and non-members, with higher on the day fees if places remain. Refunds are not offered after entry, but places may be transferred.

Minimum mandatory kit includes waterproof full body cover with hood, hat, gloves, map and compass suitable for navigation, whistle, emergency food and a cup or personal water container. The use of GPS for navigation is prohibited under FRA rules. Safety cover is provided by the local mountain rescue team and the event follows Fell Runners Association regulations. Trunce 6 in Oxspring on Mon 13 Jul 2026 is a testing 6.2 km Peak District race with about 190 m of climb from Oxspring Playing Field, main race for 16 and over. Enter on the day for £3 and juniors over 10 can run a 3 km race for £1.

A summertime off road race of about 5 miles along the River Mersey in Sale, organised by Dragons Running Club. The event uses chip timing, provides finish mementos and shares profits with local charities.

Team relay at Golden Acre Park in Leeds on 14 July 2026 where teams of three run three laps of 2.75 miles on an undulating trail. Entry was limited to 150 teams and places are full.

A classic Peak District fell race around Win Hill covering 7.3 km with 305 m of climb. The well marked, marshalled route starts at Bamford Recreation Ground and features on-site refreshments with proceeds supporting local groups.
