Holme Moss Fell Race

The Holme Moss Fell Race is an AL category fell race organized by Holmfirth Harriers. The event starts about half a mile from the registration point at Cartworth Moor Cricket Club in Holmfirth. The course covers a distance of 28.5 km (17.8 miles) with 1285 meters of total ascent.

Participants traverse a variety of terrain, including sections of the Pennine Way and extensive moorland. The route features several steep climbs and descents across the moorland landscape. Participants are required to follow Fell Runners Association (FRA) safety requirements, which include carrying mandatory kit. Navigation skills are necessary for this event.

The course includes several checkpoints and drink stations:

Checkpoints are located at Holme Moss, Tooleyshaw Moor, Crowden, Bareholme Moss, Laddow Rocks, and Black Hill. Specific cut-off times are enforced at these locations to ensure participant safety. For environmental reasons, individuals must provide their own containers for water at the drink stations.

Registration takes place at the Cartworth Moor Cricket Club, where the race also finishes. Post-race refreshments, including sandwiches and cake, are provided for participants. The event is open to individuals aged 18 and older, with a total entry limit of 200 participants. Prizes are awarded across multiple categories, including top overall finishers, age-based veteran categories, and team prizes based on the first three positions from a team.
