Holme Moss Fell Race

Holme Moss Fell Race is an AL category fell race held on 26 July 2026, based at Cartworth Moor Cricket Club, Holmfirth (GR SE134067). The course is approximately 28.5 km (17.8 miles) with 1,285 m (4,215 ft) of ascent and the entry is limited to 200 runners. Minimum age is 18. Pre-entry fees are £14 for FRA members and £16 for non-members; on the day entry is available up to the event limit for £24 for FRA members and £26 for non-members. Entries close Wednesday 22 July 2026 and advance entries use SiEntries.

The route crosses Pennine moorland and includes sections of the Pennine Way, steep trackless moorland, rocky climbs, stream crossings and both flagged and unflagged sections. Key checkpoints include Holme Moss, Tooleyshaw Moor, Crowden, Bareholme Moss, Laddow Rocks and Black Hill, with the finish at the race registration venue. Runners should be capable of completing the course in about 5 hours 30 minutes and there are cut offs at a number of checkpoints; marshals instructions must be obeyed.

Navigation skills and prior fell running experience are required and FRA safety rules apply. Mandatory kit checks will be conducted; required items include waterproof full body cover with taped seams and hood, a hat, gloves, a map suitable for the route, a compass, a whistle, emergency food and a cup or a 500 ml water supply. The use of GPS for navigation is prohibited. Holme Valley Mountain Rescue provide safety cover and a raffle in aid of the team is organised.
