Bamford Carnival Fell Race

Bamford Carnival Fell Race is a Peak District fell race taking place on 15 July 2026. The route begins and finishes at Bamford Recreation Ground and goes up, around and down Win Hill. The course description notes a fast flat start along local roads before climbing onto footpaths toward the summit area, contouring rather than reaching the trig, then descending toward Hope with a well marshalled switchback back to Bamford and a downhill run into the finish. The final approach flattens again before the finish.

The event distance is 7.3 km with approximately 305 m of ascent. The race is licensed by the FRA under UKA Rules and forms part of the Outside X Instinct Summer Fell Race Series. The course is described as well marked and well marshalled, and the organisers state it is suitable for novice fell runners and experienced racers.

Entries open 17 May and close 13 July 2026. Minimum age is 16. Entry fees are listed as £7 for FRA members and £8 for non members; day entries, if available, will be limited and charged £10. Refreshments include pizza, tea, coffee and cake, and all proceeds go towards Bamford Primary School, Bamford Preschool, Bamford Recreation Ground and Mountain Rescue. Free parking is available at Bamford Recreation Ground. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
