Bamford Carnival
Hope Valley, United Kingdom • 15 Jul 2026
The Bamford Carnival Fell Race is a Peak District fell race that goes up, around and down Win Hill. The event starts and finishes at Bamford Recreation Ground and follows footpaths to and from the summit area, including a contouring line around the top rather than a direct trig point.
The course begins with a fast flat section out of the recreation ground before climbing via Thornhill Road onto upland footpaths. The route descends toward Hope before a well marshalled switchback returns runners to Bamford, with the final approach flattening toward the finish. The course is marked and marshalled. The stated distance is 7.3 km (4½ miles) with an elevation gain of 305 m (1001 feet). Minimum age for entry is 16. Entry fees listed are FRA member £7 and non member £8; on-the-day entries, if available, are charged at £10 and are limited.
Refreshments are provided on site, including pizza from the Sunshine Pizza Oven and tea, coffee and cake offered by Bamford Preschool. Free parking is available at Bamford Recreation Ground. The race is licensed by the FRA under UKA Rules and is part of the Outside X Instinct Summer Fell Race Series. Proceeds are directed to Bamford Primary School, Bamford Preschool, Bamford Recreation Ground and Mountain Rescue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
