Cordwell Colossus - 20 mile trail race

The Cordwell Colossus is a summer trail race in North Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District. The route runs for just over 20 miles in the Cordwell Valley with a short section into the neighbouring Linacre Valley. Surface conditions include runnable trails and lanes as well as single track and trods. Some parts of the route reach higher ground with wide views.

The route is largely unmarked, with a couple of trickier navigation sections marked by the organisers. Route notes and GPX files are provided for download; participants may bring a paper map as a backup. There are two staffed checkpoints offering water and both sweet and savoury food: CP1 at Wigley (7.5 miles) and CP2 at The Peacock at Cutthorpe (13.5 miles).

Registration takes place at Holmesfield Parish Hall, Holmesfield, Dronfield S18 7WZ. Free car parking is available at the parish hall. The event has a six hour time limit. Medic cover is provided on the course and at race headquarters.

Every finisher receives a medal. Prizes are awarded to the first male and female finishers. Light refreshments are available at the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
