Cordwell Colossus
Cordwell Colossus is a summer trail race on the eastern edge of the Peak District, based at Holmesfield Village Hall, Holmesfield, Dronfield S18 7WZ. The route is a loop through the Cordwell Valley with a section into the neighbouring Linacre Valley and covers just over 20 miles. Surfaces include runnable trails and lanes as well as single-track sections and trods. Higher ground on the route provides wide views across the surrounding countryside.
The course is largely unmarked; a few trickier navigation sections are signposted. Organisers provide route notes and GPX files and recommend carrying a paper map as backup. There are two staffed checkpoints offering water and both sweet and savoury food: CP1 Wigley at 7.5 miles and CP2 The Peacock at Cutthorpe at 13.5 miles. Medic cover is provided on course and at race headquarters.
Registration takes place at Holmesfield Parish Hall and free car parking is available at the hall. The event has a 6 hour time limit. Every finisher receives a medal; there are prizes for first male and first female and light refreshments at the finish. Entry is managed online via SiEntries; the event has an age minimum of 18. Entry fees listed are UKA members £30 and non-members £32. Entries open 22 August 2025 and close 3 August 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
