Event Overview

The Cordwell Colossus is a summer trail run in North Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District. The course is a loop of just over 20 miles.

Course Details

The route takes in trails, paths, and woodlands in the Cordwell Valley and also goes into the neighbouring Linacre Valley. It includes a mix of runnable trails and lanes as well as single track and trods. There are views from the high ground. The route is largely unmarked, though a couple of tricky navigation sections are marked. Route notes and GPX files are provided for download. Participants may wish to bring their own paper map for backup navigation.

Event Logistics

Registration is from 8:00 to 8:45 at Holmesfield Parish Hall in Holmesfield. Free car parking is available at the parish hall. The event has a time limit of 6 hours. There are two checkpoints with water and food (both sweet and savoury): CP1 at Wigley (7.5 miles) and CP2 at The Peacock at Cutthorpe (13.5 miles).

Post-Race

Every finisher receives a medal. There are prizes for the first male and female finishers. Light refreshments are available at the finish. Medical cover is provided on the course and at the race headquarters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
