Chester Ultra 50
The Chester Ultra 50 is a 50 miles trail ultramarathon scheduled for Saturday 27th February 2027 in the Chester area. The course totals 849 m of ascent and has an overall cut off time of 17 hours. The event offers 750 places; entry fees are £129 (unaffiliated) and £127 (affiliated).
The route is well marked and links trails around Chester, including sections of the Sandstone Trail and the North Cheshire Way, with notable points such as Helsby Hill, Delamere Forest and Frodsham. The event is based at Ellesmere Port Sports Village athletics track. Live GPS tracking is provided and the race includes seven checkpoints; Checkpoint 1 is water only, while the other checkpoints provide drinks, food options and medical cover.
The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association, held under UK Athletics rules and awards ITRA and UTMB mountain performance index points. Entrants must be at least 20 years old, be in good health and have previously completed an organised marathon distance event. No pacers or support runners are permitted and no dropbags are allowed; participants must carry any additional items.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes a waterproof coat with sealed seams, a long sleeved base layer, at least 1 litre of water capacity, a fully charged mobile phone in waterproof covering, a foil blanket, a headtorch (min 75 lumens), a secondary torch and a whistle.
