The Chester Ultra 50 is a 50 miles trail ultramarathon held on Saturday 28 February 2026 in the Chester area. The route includes about 849m of ascent and has 500 places. The event is organised by GB Ultras, runs under a UKA permit and a Trail Running Association permit, and offers ITRA and UTMB mountain performance index points (allocation tbc). Course, checkpoints and rules
- Start/Finish - Ellesmere Port Sports Village, Stanney Lane.
- CP1 - 4 miles - water only, no support crew access.
- CP2 - 8.7 miles.
- CP3 - 13 miles.
- CP4 - 20 miles - no support crew access.
- CP5 - 27.5 miles.
- CP6 - 34 miles - no support crew access.
- CP7 - 38 miles - no support crew access.
The route links the North Cheshire Way and the Sandstone Trail, passing Helsby Hill, Delamere Forest and Frodsham. Mandatory kit must be carried and may be checked; items include a waterproof coat with sealed seams, long sleeve base layer, minimum 1 litre water container, fully charged mobile phone in waterproof cover, foil blanket, headtorch and secondary headtorch, and a whistle. No dropbags, pacers or support runners are permitted. Entrants must be at least 20 years old and must have completed an organised marathon prior to the event.
