Chester Ultra 50
The Chester Ultra 50 is a 50 mile trail ultramarathon organised by GB Ultras in its 11th edition. The route covers approximately 849 m of ascent and links trails around Chester, including sections of the Sandstone Trail and the North Cheshire Way, passing Helsby Hill, Delamere Forest and Frodsham. The race uses canal towpath and ancient woodland and is waymarked with seven staffed checkpoints along the route.
The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. It awards ITRA points and UTMB mountain performance index points. Entry capacity is 750 places and the published entry fees are £129 for unaffiliated runners and £127 for affiliated club members or Trail Running Association members.
Safety and event controls include live GPS tracking via GB Race Tracker with a mandatory tracker device, mandatory kit checks and an overall 17 hour cut off. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes a waterproof coat with sealed seams, a long sleeved base layer, a water bottle or bladder with at least 1 litre capacity, a fully charged mobile phone in waterproof covering, a foil blanket, a headtorch of minimum 75 lumens, a secondary torch and a whistle. No dropbags are permitted. Pacers and support runners are not allowed.
Supporters are restricted from several checkpoints for safety and parking reasons and dogs except service dogs are not permitted at the start finish venue or checkpoints. Finishers receive graded medals based on position. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
