The Chester Ultra 50 Mile is a 50 mile trail ultramarathon held on Saturday 28 February 2026. The course totals about 849 m of ascent and is organised by GB Ultras under UKA and Trail Running Association permits. The event offers 500 places and has a 17 hour finish cut-off. The 2026 race is sold out with no waitlist; transfers of places are permitted up to 07/02/2026. Entry fee information shown for the event is £119.

Course, checkpoints and route

The route links canal towpaths, the North Cheshire Way and the Sandstone Trail, passing Helsby Hill, Delamere Forest and Frodsham. The race is well marked and includes seven checkpoints along the route. Checkpoints supply food, drinks and basic medical cover, with Checkpoint 1 designated as water only. Several checkpoints have no support crew access.

Entry requirements, kit and logistics

Runners must be at least 20 years old on race day and must have previously completed an organised marathon distance. Dropbags are not permitted; participants must carry any additional items. Mandatory kit includes a waterproof coat with sealed seams, a long-sleeved base layer, at least 1 litre water capacity, a fully charged mobile phone in waterproof cover, a foil blanket, two headtorches (one spare) and a whistle. Random kit checks will take place and failure to carry mandatory kit may lead to disqualification. The start and finish venue is Ellesmere Port Sports Village.
