Chester Ultra 50

The Chester Ultra 50 is a 50-mile trail ultramarathon held on Saturday 27th February 2027 in the Chester area. The 11th edition covers approximately 849 m of ascent, has 750 places and a 17 hour cut-off. Entry fees are listed at £129 (unaffiliated) and £127 (affiliated).

The route links sections of the Sandstone Trail and the North Cheshire Way and passes through canal towpath, Delamere Forest, Frodsham and Helsby Hill. The course is waymarked and supported by seven checkpoints. Checkpoint 1 is water only; other checkpoints provide drinks, food options including vegan and vegetarian choices, and medical or first aid cover. Live GPS tracking is used for competitor location.

The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association, held under UK Athletics rules and awards ITRA and UTMB mountain performance index points. Entrants must be at least 20 years old and have previously completed an organised marathon-distance event. No pacers or support runners are permitted and no dropbags may be left at the venue. Dogs are not permitted at the start/finish or checkpoints except service dogs.

Start and finish are at Ellesmere Port Sports Village, Athletics Track, Stanney Lane, Ellesmere Port, CH65 9LB. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes items such as a waterproof coat with sealed seams, a long-sleeved base layer, at least 1 litre of water capacity, a charged mobile phone in waterproof covering, a foil blanket, a headtorch (minimum 75 lumens), a secondary torch and a whistle. Join an 8 km trail run at the scenic Wirral Country Park. Part of a monthly summer series, this event offers trophy categories for various age groups and supports Running Headfirst.

Coastal ultramarathon between Prestatyn and Bangor with runnable sea views and inland hills. Choose a 50 km course reported as 53.8 km with about 2700 ft ascent or a 100 km route along the North Wales Path with about 8000 ft ascent.

Trail races of 10k, 21k and 42k take place in Delamere Forest with marked routes, GPX support and marshals. An event village offers food, drinks and partner freebies, and discounted event t shirts are available.

A ladies five mile trail race in Worsley on 3 May 2026, organised by Swinton Running Club and based at Beesley Green Community Centre. Online entries open at midnight on 31 December and standard ticket fees apply.
