Chester Ultra 50

The Chester Ultra 50 is a 50 mile trail ultramarathon near Chester taking place on Saturday 27 February 2027. The route covers 849 m of ascent and is run on well-marked trails that link sections of the Sandstone Trail and the North Cheshire Way, including Helsby Hill, Delamere Forest and Frodsham. The race includes live GPS tracking and seven staffed checkpoints along the course.

The event is organised by GB Ultras, is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. It awards ITRA points and UTMB mountain performance index points. Entry is limited to 750 places and the overall cut-off for the event is 17 hours. Entry fees are listed as £129 (unaffiliated) and £127 (affiliated).

Support at checkpoints is restricted in several locations; supporters and support crews are not permitted at checkpoints 1, 4, 6 and 7 and parking is limited at others. Checkpoint 1 provides water only; other checkpoints offer drinks and a range of food including sandwiches, potatoes, fruit and snacks, with vegan and vegetarian options. Dogs are not permitted except service dogs.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and will be checked; no dropbags are permitted. Pacers and support runners are not allowed.
