Trail Running calendar near Whitby 2026-2027

A circular trail race of about 17.5 miles from Robin Hoods Bay with 1700 ft ascent and an 8 hour limit. Checkpoints supply food and drink and a list of mandatory safety kit must be carried.

A winter trail event of about 30 miles on the Cleveland Way and Cinder Track from Robin Hood's Bay toward Scarborough, with roughly 3,400 ft of ascent, staffed checkpoints, mandatory winter safety kit and an 11-hour limit.

Trail races at Harewood House in Leeds run through over 1,000 acres of grounds with 5 km, 10 km and a half marathon distances; canicross is allowed and finishers receive a medal and merchandise.

A 10 km trail run in Ashington on 10 January 2027 through community woods and QEII Country Park. The event is canicross friendly and includes chip timing, marshals and a finisher medal.

Two races from Kirkstall Bridge Inn: an approximately 16 km trail along canal and riverside paths including Calverley Cutting, and a fast, flat 10 km out-and-back on the Leeds Liverpool Canal, with marked routes and limited entry.

A head torch trail run on Dalby Forest's secluded single tracks. Get ready for a dirty, nocturnal adventure with awards for the top five men and women and a finisher's medal for all. Entry is limited and closes online.

Coastal trail races at Druridge Bay Country Park offering 10 km and half marathon distances with sections on paths, trails and the beach. The event features live chip timing, finish medals and allows one controlled dog per runner.

A 10km race in Sowerby Bridge that starts on muddy trails and returns on tarmac. The course is one way, entries are limited to 100 runners, and an official hoodie can be pre ordered as the event memento.

February 2027

A winter ultra on the Pendle Way from Barley offering approx. 45 miles or a 30 mile option for runners and walkers, waymarked across moorland and villages with required winter kit and navigation.

Experience a unique 10 mile nighttime trail run through the fabled Simonside Hills of Northumberland. Navigate rocky trails and steep climbs under the stars in this atmospheric winter event.

Test your endurance at the Wadsworth Trog fell race in the South and West Pennines. This 31 km event features over 1100 meters of climbing and requires navigation skills for participants traversing the Hebden Bridge landscape.

A roughly ten mile point to point coastal trail run along the Northumbrian coast with a Canicross option and live chip timing. Competitors must arrange transport or book the event shuttle to the start.

A winter trail race at Saltburn offering three mapped distances from 7.5 to 28 miles, mandatory safety kit and time limits for each course. Entries are limited and prizes are awarded across age categories.

A circular 14 mile trail half marathon across the Yorkshire Wolds on undulating, non technical terrain with GPX and marked junctions. Plantable wildflower medal, charity donations from entry fees, and a five hour overall cut off.

A trail half marathon on 21 February 2027 from Levisham Village Hall across North York Moors terrain and through the Hole of Horcum. The circa 13.1 mile route includes two checkpoints, a 5 hour limit, mandatory kit and limited places.

Trail 10km and half marathon around Alnwick Castle and Hulne Park, starting and finishing by the River Aln; live chip timing, free on-site parking, and a £4 donation per entry to NE Youth. Canicross is not permitted.

Trail runs at Fountains Abbey on 28 February 2027 include 5km, 10km and half marathon options with live chip timing and a three hour cut off. Routes pass through the Deer Park, Water Garden and the Abbey and the event is canicross friendly.

March 2027

A 53 mile point to point ultramarathon from Guisborough to Helmsley across the North York Moors with about 2,300 m ascent and a 16 hour limit. Mandatory kit, several checkpoints, two non returnable drop bags and strict crew rules apply.

April 2027

Trail run and walk at Guisborough Rugby Club on 4 April 2026 supporting Teesside Samaritans, with 10 km and 20 km options, finishers medals, T shirts, stocked checkpoints and medical cover.

A 26 miles anti clockwise loop around Allendale, Northumberland, organised by North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team to raise funds. The route crosses Hard Rigg, Black Hill and Kilhope Law and returns via Spartylea, The Drag and Ladlewell.
