Hardmoors 160 - The Ring Of Steele

The Hardmoors 160 is a single stage ultramarathon of 160 miles that links the 48 mile Tabular Hills route with the full length of the Cleveland Way National Trail, running from Scalby/Scarborough to Filey. The route includes about 6700 m of ascent and competitors have 50 hours to complete the course. The event has an entry limit of 60 competitors and a relay option for teams of 2 to 6 runners.

The route is served by numbered checkpoints with water, food and hot drinks at selected locations; some checkpoints prohibit support crews. Trackers are provided with the race entry and broadcast competitor locations online for safety and crew planning. All runners must be supported by motorised back-up throughout the event; support may be shared between competitors. One support runner is permitted at a time from Gribdale Gate to the finish and for specified hours of darkness.

Entry requires prior completion of a single stage event of at least 60 trail miles. A compulsory kit list is enforced and spot checks occur on course; missing certain mandatory items incurs time penalties or disqualification. Competitors must follow the declared route, obey marshals and race control, close gates they pass through and respect local communities. Where the route passes tidal sections, marshals will control passage and any waiting time will be recorded and subtracted from a runner’s finish time.
