The Hardmoors 26.2: Farndale trail races take place on Sunday 9 August 2026, with a circular start and finish at Hutton Le Hole Village Hall (YO62 6UA). The event offers three untaped trail courses; competitors navigate using downloadable maps, route descriptions and GPX files supplied by the organiser. The event entry limit is 400 participants.

Distances

  • 26.2 miles (Trail Marathon) : ascent 4,200 ft : time limit 9 hours
  • 16.5 miles (Half Marathon) : ascent 2,300 ft : time limit 6 hours
  • 8.3 miles (Trail 10k) : ascent 1,130 ft : time limit 4 hours

Age limits are: Marathon 18+, Half Marathon 16+, 10k 12+. Prize categories include male and female 1st–3rd, veteran categories (MV/FV 50 and 60), over-70, and a non-binary category where entrant numbers allow.

Practical information

Entry fees listed on the event pages are: Marathon £49 attached / £51 unattached; Half Marathon £36 attached / £38 unattached; 10k £28 attached / £30 unattached. T-shirt optional at £10. General entries open 28 September 2025. The village car park (100 yards north of the village hall) is marshalled; day parking costs £4 and there are over 400 spaces. Camper van/motorhome parking is available for a fee (£15 per unit) with fresh water and elsan disposal; no showers.

Mandatory kit for full and half routes includes a printed route description and map, waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat and gloves, capacity to carry 500 ml fluid, survival bag, foil blanket and means to attach the race bib. The 10k has a reduced mandatory kit list including a printed map and survival/foil items. Failure to carry compulsory kit will result in disqualification. Join the Don't Stop Be Leafin' 5k Dash at Kiplin Hall for a crisp autumn trail through formal gardens, woodland and grassy paths. Spectator friendly, it wraps up with a hot drink and spiced flapjack for finishers and plenty of cheering spot..
