Hardmoors 26.2 Farndale Trail Races

This event, part of the Hardmoors 26.2 series, takes place on Sunday 9 August 2026 from Hutton Le Hole Village Hall, Hutton Le Hole YO62 6UA. The event offers three circular trail courses that start and finish at the village hall and use local rights of way and tracks.

Distances:

  • 29 miles - 4,200 ft ascent, 9 hour limit.
  • 16.5 miles - 2,300 ft ascent, 6 hour limit.
  • 8.3 miles - 1,130 ft ascent, 4 hour limit.

Entry is limited to 400 competitors. Entry fees vary by distance and by club affiliation; a race t-shirt is available at an additional cost. Courses are not taped or signed; competitors are provided with downloadable route descriptions, maps and GPX files and are responsible for carrying printed copies. Mandatory kit is checked at registration and must be carried for the duration of each race. For the marathon and half-marathon this includes a printed route description and map, a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat and gloves, capacity to carry 500 ml of fluid, a survival bag and a foil blanket. The 10k also requires a printed route description, survival bag, foil blanket and means to attach the race bib.

Parking is marshalled in a large field near the village; a small parking fee applies. Camper van and caravan parking is available for the preceding night for a per unit charge and includes a fresh water tap and elsan disposal. Join a guided recce of the Hardmoors 55 on 17 January 2026, around 25 miles from Osmotherley to Helmsley with checkpoints and hot drinks at the finish. Not a race, groups are led by experienced run leaders with sweepers.

Light up your night at the Dalby Forest Head Torch Challenge, a fun 5 mile trail race through atmospheric singletrack and woodland. Expect muddy, adventurous terrain and a lively community vibe for runners of all abilities.

Explore Wilton Woods and Lazenby Bank East at a regional orienteering event on Sunday 25 January 2026. Varied courses for all abilities, car sharing encouraged, and a few on the day entries may be available subject to map availability.

Hardmoors 26.2 Saltburn features scenic but rugged circular trails of 28, 14.5 and 7.5 miles along the North York Moors coast with big climbs and sea views. Bring maps and mandatory kit and finishers get a medal.
