Hardmoors 26.2: Farndale takes place on Sunday 9 August 2026 and uses circular trail routes starting from Hutton Le Hole Village Hall (YO62 6UA). The event offers three distances:

  • 29 miles (trail marathon) with approximately 4,200 ft ascent
  • 16.5 miles (half marathon) with approximately 2,300 ft ascent
  • 8.3 miles (trail 10k) with approximately 1,130 ft ascent

Entry is limited to 400 participants. Age minimums are 18 for the trail marathon, 16 for the half marathon and 10 for the 10k. Time limits are 9 hours for the full route, 6 hours for the half and 4 hours for the 10k.

Logistics and rules

Registration includes a mandatory kit check. Competitors must carry a printed route description and map; the courses are not fully signed and self-navigation is required. Mandatory items for full and half routes include a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat and gloves, capacity to carry 500 ml fluid, a survival bag and a foil blanket. The 10k has a reduced kit list (printed map, survival bag, foil blanket, and carrying 500 ml fluid). Failure to carry mandatory kit may result in disqualification.

Parking is marshalled in a nearby field (cost stated as £4 for the day); a North York Moors Authority car park nearby charges £5.50. Camper van/motorhome parking is available for an additional charge and requires pre-booking. Dogs are not allowed in the races. Join a guided recce of the Hardmoors 55 on 17 January 2026, around 25 miles from Osmotherley to Helmsley with checkpoints and hot drinks at the finish. Not a race, groups are led by experienced run leaders with sweepers.

Light up your night at the Dalby Forest Head Torch Challenge, a fun 5 mile trail race through atmospheric singletrack and woodland. Expect muddy, adventurous terrain and a lively community vibe for runners of all abilities.

Explore Wilton Woods and Lazenby Bank East at a regional orienteering event on Sunday 25 January 2026. Varied courses for all abilities, car sharing encouraged, and a few on the day entries may be available subject to map availability.

Hardmoors 26.2 Saltburn features scenic but rugged circular trails of 28, 14.5 and 7.5 miles along the North York Moors coast with big climbs and sea views. Bring maps and mandatory kit and finishers get a medal.
