Silva Moors Traverse

Ingleby Cross, United Kingdom • 29 Mar 2026

Event overview

The Moors Traverse® is an ultra running event scheduled for Sunday 29 March 2026. The headline distance is 80 km, following Alfred Wainwright’s coast to coast route from Ingleby Cross to Robin Hood’s Bay along the northern edge of the North York Moors National Park. The route’s estimated total ascent for recent editions is about 1,600 m. The minimum entry age is 18. Entry fees are tiered: £85, then £95, then £105 as listed for different registration periods.

Route, navigation and logistics

The route is not waymarked by the race but follows a well established national trail; portions are increasingly waymarked with Coast to Coast signs. Organisers provide a waterproof paper map at registration, a GPX file for download, and a digital race map via the Avenza app. A finishers’ drop bag (maximum 5 kg) is transported from the start to the finish. A coach transfer from Robin Hood’s Bay to Ingleby Arncliffe is available for a fee; the pick-up point is the Station Car Park at Fylingdales Village Hall.

Support, kit and rules

Support points are placed along the route (examples: Lordstones at 13 km, Lion Inn at 32 km, Glaisdale at 46 km, Falling Foss at 61 km, Hawsker at 70 km, finish at about 77 km). Aid stations offer hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, cakes, fruit and some hot meal or soup options; gluten-free and vegan alternatives are available. Medical staff are normally present at support points. A mandatory kit checklist is issued and kit is checked at registration; a survival bag (not just a blanket) is required. The route is defined by the event corridor and by the support-point structure. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
