SilverBackTrails Othnesbery’s Revenge Half Marathon

SilverBackTrails Othnesbery’s Revenge is a trail half marathon held on 16 August 2026 in the North York Moors National Park. The course is circa 13.1 miles and has a five hour cut off. Entries are limited to 50 runners, entry fee is £20, and entrants must be at least 16 years old. Entries open 1 December 2025 and close 10 August 2026. No entries on the day.

The route uses forest tracks and heather clad moorland and includes multiple ascents of Othnesbery, more commonly known as Roseberry Topping. The route includes steep ascents and descents and a notable section at Odin’s Seat. The organisers will place some flags and marshals to aid navigation; each entrant receives a route GPX and a master map is available at registration.

Finishers receive a bespoke medal and a certificate that features part of the route. There is a checkpoint on course and refreshments at the checkpoint and at the finish. An optional event technical T shirt is available for purchase for £18.

Participants must carry mandatory safety equipment including a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat or buff or gloves, an emergency bivvy bag, a charged mobile phone ideally with OS maps and what3words, at least 500 ml of fluid, at least 120 g of emergency food, a working compass and OS Explorer 26 or Harvey’s North Yorkshire Moors map. Organisers may perform spot kit checks and will withdraw anyone not carrying the required equipment. Parking is in the car park below Roseberry Topping and participants are responsible for parking charges. Dogs are permitted on a lead and will start after other participants. Run through the North York Moors at the Heartbeat Hobble in Goathland, an 11.9 km fell with 290 m of climb. Entry on the day and a village hall finish create a friendly spring fell outing.

A beginners fell race at Cockfield Fell on 28 April 2026, run as a social 3.5 km lap followed by a 3.5 km competitive lap for a 7 km off road route. Open to entrants aged 14 and over with entry fees for FRA members and non members.

Experience a 36 mile ultra distance event through the stunning Esk Walk Valley with 4487 feet of elevation. This circular route starts and finishes in Glaisdale and is open to both runners and walkers.

Classic fell race through the North York Moors on Sunday 3 May 2026, 15 km with about 605 m of climb from Fryup Gill near Whitby. Entry on the day makes it ideal for spontaneous runners and teams seeking a rugged challenge.
