Othnesbery’s Revenge is a trail half marathon covering approximately 13.1 miles within the North York Moors National Park. The course features a variety of terrain, including forest tracks and heather-clad moorland. A central element of the route is the ascent of Roseberry Topping, historically known as Othnesbery, which participants climb three times. The event has a total time limit of 5 hours.

Registration and parking are located in the car park below Roseberry Topping, with participants responsible for their own parking fees. The route is supported by marshals and some directional flags, and all entrants are provided with a GPX file and access to a master route map. One check point is located along the course providing water, soft drinks, and snacks, with similar provisions available at the finish.

Participants must be 16 years of age or older. Dogs are permitted to take part if kept on a lead, starting behind the other runners. Mandatory equipment must be carried by all participants, including:

  • Waterproof jacket with taped seams (unless Paramo).
  • Hat, buff, and gloves.
  • Emergency bivvy bag.
  • Charged mobile phone (preferable with mapping software).
  • Minimum 500 ml of fluid and 120 grams of emergency food.
  • Working compass.
  • OS Explorer 26 or Harvey’s North Yorkshire Moors Map.

Entries are limited to 50 runners and must be made in advance, as there are no entries on the day. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and a certificate of achievement. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
