Othnesbery’s Revenge Half Marathon is a trail half marathon held on 16 August 2026 in the North York Moors National Park. The course distance is approximately 13.1 miles with a 4.5 hour cut-off. The event is organised by SilverBack Trails and is in its fifth year. Entries are limited to 50 places. Entry details: entries open 1 December 2025 and close 10 August 2026, the entry fee is £20, and the minimum age is 16 on the day of the event. No entries on the day are accepted. No refunds are given; transfers are allowed up to one week before the event.

Course, kit and logistics

The route runs over forest tracks and heather-clad moorland and includes repeated ascents of Roseberry Topping (also called Othnesbery). Marshals and route flags will assist navigation; entrants receive a GPX file and a master route map will be available at registration. A checkpoint on course and a checkpoint at the finish will supply water, fizzy drinks and snacks. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and a certificate.

Mandatory kit must be carried and may be spot-checked. Minimum required items include a waterproof jacket with taped seams (unless Paramo), hat/buff/gloves, emergency bivvy bag, charged mobile phone, at least 500 ml fluid, at least 120 g emergency food, a working compass and OS Explorer 26 or Harvey’s North Yorkshire Moors map. Parking is in the car park below Roseberry Topping; participants are responsible for parking charges. Dogs on a lead are allowed and will start after other participants.
