SilverBackTrails Othnesbery’s Revenge Half Marathon
SilverBackTrails Othnesbery’s Revenge is a trail half marathon held on Sunday 15 August 2027 in the North York Moors National Park. The course is approximately 13.1 miles and runs over forest tracks and heather-clad moorland. The route includes repeated climbs of Othnesbery, more commonly known as Roseberry Topping, with a notable feature described as a sting in the tail at Odin’s Seat. There are some steep ascents and descents on the route.
The event has a 5 hour cut off and places are limited to 50 runners. All finishers receive a bespoke medal, with a new design for 2027. No entries are accepted on the day; transfers are allowed up to one week before the event and no refunds are given.
Navigation is aided by marshals and flags; each entrant is sent a GPX file and a master route map is available at registration. There will be at least one checkpoint on the course offering water, fizzy drinks and snacks, and a similar provision at the finish.
Participants must be 17 or older on the day and carry mandatory kit including a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat or buff or gloves, emergency bivvy bag, charged mobile phone, at least 500 ml of fluid, at least 120 g of emergency food, a working compass and an OS Explorer 26 or Harvey’s North Yorkshire Moors map. Spot checks may be carried out and anyone not carrying required equipment may be withdrawn. Parking is in the car park below Roseberry Topping and participants are responsible for parking charges.
