SilverBackTrails Othnesbery’s Revenge Half Marathon

SilverBackTrails Othnesbery’s Revenge is a trail half marathon held on 16 August 2026 in the North York Moors National Park. The course is approximately 13.1 miles with a 5 hour cut off and places limited to 50 entrants. The event is organised by SilverBack Trails and is in its fifth year.

The route follows forest tracks and heather clad moorland and includes multiple ascents of Othnesbery, more usually known as Roseberry Topping. The moorland may be purple in August and the route features steep ascents and descents, with a notable uphill section at a location described as Odins Seat.

Navigation aids and safety arrangements include marshals, some flags on the course, a GPX route file sent to entrants and a master route map available at registration. There will be a checkpoint offering water, soft drinks and snacks on course and the same provision at the finish. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and a certificate featuring part of the route. An event specific technical T shirt is available to purchase for £18.

Mandatory kit must be carried by each entrant and may be spot checked; this includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat or buff and gloves, an emergency bivvy, a charged mobile phone with mapping ideally installed, at least 500 ml fluid and 120 g emergency food, a working compass and OS Explorer 26 or Harvey's North Yorkshire Moors map. No entries on the day. Transfers between entrants are permitted up to one week before the event; refunds are not given. Parking is in the car park below Roseberry Topping and parking charges are the responsibility of participants. Dogs are permitted on a lead and will start after other participants.
