Hardmoors 26.2: Roseberry

Hardmoors 26.2: Roseberry is a trail race day based at Sea Cadets Hall, Belmangate, Guisborough TS14 7AQ. The event offers three distances:

  • Marathon
  • Half Marathon
  • 10k

The races take place on exposed moorland and include substantial climbing. Published ascent figures for the three distances are 4,850 ft, 3,200 ft and 1,600 ft respectively. The Trail Marathon reaches the highest parts of the North York Moors and remains at elevation for several miles.

Entries open 2 November 2025 and close 14 August 2026. Entry fees are published per race: Marathon £49 attached / £51 unattached; Half Marathon £36 attached / £38 unattached; 10k £28 attached / £30 unattached. A maximum field size is shown as 400.

All competitors must carry specified compulsory kit for safety. Required items include a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, a spare long sleeved base layer, a survival bag and foil blanket, 500 ml of water or sports drink, printed route description and printed map, and a means to attach the race number. A headtorch or torch is listed as compulsory for the marathon. Failure to carry compulsory kit will prevent participation.

Routes are not taped or signed. Competitors receive downloadable maps, route descriptions and GPX files and must navigate themselves. Foot sweepers and marshals are provided at road crossings, and time limits apply: 10 hours for the marathon, 5 hours for the half and 3 hours for the 10k.
