Event Overview

The Hardmoors 26.2 Roseberry Trail Races take place in the North York Moors, starting and finishing at the Sea Cadets Hall in Guisborough. This event is part of the Hardmoors 26.2 series and offers three distinct distances over hilly terrain.

Participants can choose from the following distances:

  • Trail Marathon: approximately 30 miles with 4850 feet of ascent.
  • Half Marathon: approximately 14.5 miles with 3200 feet of ascent.
  • 10k: approximately 9 miles with 1600 feet of ascent.

Navigation and Environment

The routes are not taped or signed. It is the responsibility of each runner to navigate using provided maps and route descriptions. The course covers exposed areas, and the marathon route reaches the highest points of the North York Moors.

Equipment and Requirements

A mandatory kit must be carried by all participants in all distances. This includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, a spare long-sleeved base layer, a whistle, an emergency survival bag, a foil blanket, and at least 500ml of liquid. Marathon runners must also carry a headtorch. As a cupless event, runners are required to bring their own cups for refreshments at checkpoints and the finish line.

Logistics

Registration takes place at the Sea Cadets Hall in Guisborough. Parking at the venue is restricted to race marshals; however, public car parks are available nearby. A coastal trail marathon on 12 April 2026 from Redcar Beach to Whitby, covering about 26.5 miles with 3263 ft of ascent. The route follows cliffs, sand and coastal villages and has a 10 hour cutoff with age-category trophies.

Experience a 14.35 mile trail run along the stunning northeast coast from Redcar to Staithes. Navigate cliff paths and beaches with 1591 feet of elevation on this scenic coastal route.

A 7 hour time challenge on signed river trail loops in Durham offering distances from 3 km up to 50 km and ultra options. The event adds a charity surcharge and offers matched pin donations to support local dog rehoming centres.

Experience a 10.71 km fell race through the scenic Kilburn Wood with 390 m of climbing. This event follows FRA rules and requires traditional navigation skills and mandatory safety kit in a forest setting.
