Lambton Castle Summer Trail Runs - August 2026

Lambton Estate Summer Trail Runs take place within the private grounds of the Lambton Estate at Lambton Castle, Chester-le-Street, County Durham. The estate is normally closed to the public except for Sunday nature walks.

Distances offered:

  • 5 km Trail Run - new for 2026
  • 5 mile Trail Run - mixed terrain shorter route
  • 10 mile Trail Run - moderately undulating, woodland and estate roads
  • 15 mile Trail Run - 10 mile route plus 5 mile loop

Route maps are provided for the 5 mile and 10 mile courses and the 5 km route is to be confirmed. Runners can expect woodland tracks, grassy fields, firm paths and brief sections on private estate roads. The venue includes parkland, woodland and historic estate features that are not normally open to the public.

The event is canicross friendly. One well controlled dog per runner is allowed and dogs must remain on a lead at all times. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North and finishers receive a bespoke event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink. A custom event T shirt is available for an additional £12.50 during registration. Parking is available on site for participants and spectators. Participate in a 9 km fell race through the Durham countryside north of Stanhope. This event is part of the North East Fell Running Championships and features a 300 m climb for runners aged 18 and over.

A muddy 5 km obstacle course at Town Moor, Newcastle on 11 July 2026 with climbs, crawls and slides. The event has a £50 fundraising target, labelled entry fees, and limited on-site parking and accessibility.

Experience a summer evening fell race in Weardale featuring a 7 km out and back route. Runners will tackle 400 meters of ascent to reach the 700 meter summit of Chapelfell Top before a fast descent to St John's Chapel.

A fast, flat 10 km riverside event in Darlington offering medals and goody bags for all, competitive prizes for top finishers, and points toward a four-race series with awards in October.
