The Lambton Castle Trail Runs take place on Sunday 16 August 2026 at Lambton Castle, Chester-le-Street, County Durham, DH3 4PW. The event offers the following distances:

  • 5 miles : mixed terrain route.
  • 10 miles : moderately undulating course with woodland trails, open fields, and estate roads.
  • 15 miles : the 10-mile route followed by the 5-mile loop.

Route maps are provided and the 15-mile option is the 10-mile loop plus the 5-mile loop.

Course and venue

The event is held within the private grounds of the Lambton Estate. The course includes woodland tracks, grassy fields, firm paths, and brief sections on private estate roads. The estate contains parkland and historic architecture and is not normally open to the public.

Additional information

The event is Canicross friendly: one well-controlled dog per runner is allowed and dogs must remain on a lead at all times. Live chip-timing is provided by Timing Up North. All finishers receive a bespoke event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink. A custom event T-shirt is available for an extra £12 during registration.
