Hardmoors 55

The Hardmoors 55 is a 53 mile ultramarathon held on 20 March 2027 that runs from Guisborough to Helmsley via the North York Moors and the Cleveland Hills. The course follows the Hardmoors110/Cleveland Way route with some variations and passes notable features such as Roseberry Topping and the Three Sisters. Total ascent is listed at 7545 ft (approximately 2300 m). The event has an overall time limit of 16 hours and an entry limit of 350 participants, including relay runners.

The route is checkpointed with food and water provided at most stations; drop bags are accepted at Kildale (11 miles) and Osmotherley (30 miles). Cutoffs are set at Kildale 4 hours, Clay Bank 6 hours, Osmotherley 9.5 hours, White Horse 13.5 hours and Helmsley 16 hours. The organisers supply a compulsory tracker and operate at least two sweepers on course.

Mandatory kit must be carried for the full race and includes items such as a hat, gloves, a waterproof jacket with taped seams and hood, waterproof trousers, full running tights, a minimum of 1 litre fluid, headtorch, paper map, whistle, survival bag or Blizzard jacket, foil blanket, emergency food and a charged mobile phone. Spotchecks are conducted and penalties range from time additions to disqualification for missing key items. Support crews are only permitted at a designated location (Sutton Bank). Take on a scenic 12 km course across the North York Moors with 400 m of climb for a rewarding midweek challenge. Entry on the day, friendly teams welcome and a post race BBQ helps raise money for charity.

A Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course at Herrington Country Park with tarmac, gravel and grassy sections, and climbs, crawls and slides. Organised by Cancer Research UK, participants must be 13 or older and a minimum fundraising target applies.

A chip timed, approximately 10 km race through the private Mulgrave Estate with coastal views and a start and finish at Mulgrave Castle. Proceeds support Mulgrave Community Sports Association and each finisher receives a bespoke memento.

A point-to-point charity run across Teesside on 28 June 2026, starting at Brass Monkey Stokesley and finishing in Saltburn with pub regroup stops and a beach sauna. 100 percent of proceeds go to The Teesside Charity.
