The Derwent Reservoir 5 & 10 Milers take place on 22 February 2026 at Derwent Reservoir, Edmundbyers, Consett, DH8 9TT. This is the seventh running of the winter trail events. The reservoir sits on the border of County Durham and Northumberland. Registration opens 25 February 2025 and closes 18 February 2026. From 2026, there will be a parking or bus transfer charge; full details will be sent to entrants before the event.

Routes and race details

  • 5 mile - Price: £25 + fee; 493 places remaining
  • 10 mile - Price: £27 + fee; 373 places remaining

The courses include firm trails, woodland paths, grassy sections, and a small amount of road running. The 5 mile route is canicross friendly (one controlled dog per runner). The 10 mile route is not suitable for canicross because of extended road sections. There is a 2.5-hour cut off for the 10 mile event due to road closures. Live chip-timing will be provided by Timing Up North. All finishers receive an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink.
