Gods Own Backyard Ultra - Spring 2026 Silver

The event takes place on 23 May 2026 at Hunters Greave, Pollard Lane, Hawksworth, Leeds LS5 3BF. It uses the Backyard Ultra format: competitors set off on the hour every hour to complete a 4.167 mile loop. To continue into the next hour a competitor must complete the loop within that hour; failure to do so results in a DNF. Runners continue until only one person completes a loop alone and is declared the champion.

Entry details include an age minimum of 18 and an entry fee of £80. At the time of listing there were 96 participants entered. New entries closed on 23 April 2026. This event is affiliated as a silver event; winners can qualify for entry into the gold world team championship.

The course is not flat and includes an elevation gain on each lap. Surfaces mix canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail and tarmac. A different night route will be used to avoid crossing the canal in darkness; this night route follows a tarmac canal towpath. The route will be fully waymarked and marshalled.

On-site services include hot and cold water, fruit, sweets, toilets, first aid cover, camping and parking availability before the event, and aid stations at the start/finish. All participants receive a Yorkshire goodie bag and a special edition T-shirt is available to order prior to the event. Limited campervan spaces must be pre-arranged. Organisers note the venue is a short walk from Kirkstall Forge rail station. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
