God's Own Back Yard Ultra Spring

Gods Own BYU Spring 2027

Gods Own BYU Spring 2027 is a single-day backyard ultra held on 29 May 2027 at Hunters Greave, Pollard Lane, Hawksworth, Leeds LS5 3BF. The event is part of the Backyard Ultra Series and offers a route to a place at Big Dog's Backyard Ultra through the BYU Championship. Entries are closed as the field is full. Minimum age is 18 and the published entry fee is £90.

Competitors set off every hour and must complete a 4.167 mile loop within each hour to continue to the next. If a competitor fails to complete the loop within the hour they are recorded as a DNF. Only the last person to finish a loop alone is declared the champion. The bell is sounded on the hour and competitors must be in the starting area before the bell or they will be disqualified.

The day course includes elevation gain on each loop and combines canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail and tarmac paths. A separate night loop avoids crossing the canal and follows a tarmac canal towpath.

On-site facilities include hot and cold water, fruit and sweets, camping, toilets and first aid cover. The route will be waymarked and marshalled. All participants receive a bespoke Yorkshire goodie bag and a T shirt. Camping is available for participants and their support crew; parking details will be confirmed and there is no space for campervans. Public transport access via Kirkstall Forge station is noted. Participants are responsible for their own nutrition and must wear appropriate clothing; a headtorch and spare batteries are required for night running.
