Gods Own BYU - Spring 2026 Silver

Gods Own Backyard Ultra at Hunters Greave in Hawksworth, Leeds is a backyard ultra formatted event held on 23 May 2026. Competitors run a repeated loop of 4.167 mile. Each loop must be completed within the hour to qualify to start the next loop; failing to finish a loop results in a DNF. The event continues until one competitor completes a loop alone and is declared the champion.

The course is a mixture of canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail and tarmac paths. The day course has elevation gain on each loop. A separate night loop avoids crossing the canal and uses a tarmac canal towpath. The route will be fully waymarked and marshalled.

Event facilities include hot and cold water, fruit and sweets, camping, toilets and first aid cover. Aid stations and start/finish facilities are provided, and all participants receive a Yorkshire goodie bag. Eco friendly event shirts and hoodies are available to order for collection at the event. Camping is available at the start/finish and limited campervan space must be pre-arranged. The venue is at Hunters Greave, Pollard Lane, Hawksworth, Leeds, LS5 3BF; the nearest rail access mentioned is Kirkstall Forge.

Minimum age is 18. This is a silver level event and winners may qualify for the gold world team championship. The bell is sounded on the hour and competitors not in the starting area before the bell are disqualified. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
