God's Own Back Yard Ultra Spring

Leeds, United Kingdom • 29 May 2027

Gods Own BYU - Spring 2027

Gods Own Backyard Ultra at Hunters Greave, Leeds, uses the backyard ultra format: competitors set off on the hour every hour to complete a 4.167 mile loop. To remain in the race a competitor must complete each loop within the hour; failure to do so results in a DNF. The event continues until a single runner completes a loop alone and is declared champion. The course is not flat and includes an elevation gain on each loop. Surfaces include canal towpath, farmland trail, woodland trail and tarmac paths. A modified night loop uses a tarmac canal towpath to avoid crossing the canal in the dark.

Facilities are provided at the start/finish and along the route. The organiser supplies hot and cold water, fruit, sweets, aid stations, camping, toilets and first aid cover. The route is fully waymarked and marshalled. There is a bespoke Yorkshire goodie bag and a T-shirt for participants. Camping is available at the start/finish; parking area will be confirmed and there is no space for campervans. Entrants must be 18 or older. The event is currently full and entry is closed. Participants are expected to wear appropriate clothing for the conditions; a headtorch and spare batteries are advised for running after dark. An optional XCover insurance option is available.
