Alderman's Ascent

Alderman's Ascent is a fell running race. The event will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2026. For 2026, the race will serve as a counter event for the English Fell Running Championship.

The route is 8.5 km long with over 400 m of climbing. It is classed as an 'AS' race under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules. The route includes a visit to the Pots and Pans monument before heading to the highest point at Shaw Rocks. A section of long, technical downhill is followed by another long uphill towards the shoulder of Alderman's Hill before the finish.

For the 2026 edition, the event base is moving to the Satellite Centre on Wellington Road in Greenfield, which is opposite the start line. Mandatory kit will be decided on the day, though runners are advised to bring full FRA kit requirements. This is a fell race run under FRA rules.
