Alderman's Ascent

Alderman's Ascent is a fell race held at the Satellite Centre in Greenfield, Oldham. The course is approximately 8.5 km with over 400 m of climb and includes a visit to the Pots and Pans monument before rising to Shaw Rocks, the route's highest point. After Shaw Rocks the route turns back toward Alderman's Hill, featuring a long technical downhill followed by a sustained uphill to the shoulder of Alderman's Hill and then a return run to the finish.

The event is a fundraising race for the Junior teams of Saddleworth Rangers and serves as a counter in the 2026 English Fell Running Championships. It is classed as an AS race under FRA rules. FRA mandatory kit for the event will be decided on the day and entrants are advised to carry the full kit required by FRA regulations. The route for this year will be slightly different before the open moor and uses private land; runners are asked to keep to the usual route when reconnoitring. Minimum age for entry is 17 or older.
