Alderman's Ascent (2026)

Alderman's Ascent is a fell race held in Greenfield on Saturday 25 July 2026. The course covers 8.5 km with over 400 m of climbing and is classed as an AS race under Fell Runners Association rules. It will act as a counter race for the English Fell Running Championship 2026.

For 2026 the event base moves from the Rugby Club to the Satellite Centre on Wellington Road, Greenfield, located opposite the start line. The route passes the Pots and Pans monument, climbs to Shaw Rocks as the highest point, returns toward Alderman’s Hill and includes a long technical downhill followed by a substantial uphill section to the shoulder of Alderman’s Hill before the run back to the finish. A 2025 map is available with a slight change planned for 2026.

FRA mandatory kit requirements will be confirmed on the day. Participants are advised to carry full kit in line with Fell Runners Association guidance. The race is organised under FRA rules and is explicitly described as a fell race rather than a trail race. Volunteers may be offered race credit for marshaling duties.
