Alderman's Ascent takes place on Saturday 25 July 2026 and marks the race's tenth year. The event is a fell race run under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules and is a counter race for the English Fell Running Championship 2026. The venue for 2026 is the Satellite Centre on Wellington Road, Greenfield, Oldham OL3 7AQ.

Course and entry

The senior route is 8.5 km with over 400 m of climb. The course passes the "Pots and Pans" monument, reaches Shaw Rocks as the highest point, then returns via Alderman's Hill with a long technical downhill followed by a sustained uphill section before the finish. The race is classed as an "AS" event according to FRA rules. FRA mandatory kit requirements will be decided on race day, and entrants are advised to bring the full kit specified by the FRA.

Entry is available both by pre-entry and on the day. Pre-entry fees differ for members and non-members, and there is an entry-on-day fee. The minimum age for senior entry is 16. Teams are allowed.
