Alderman's Ascent is scheduled for Saturday 25 July 2026 in Greenfield, Oldham (South/West Pennines). The 2026 running marks the tenth edition and will serve as a counter race for the English Fell Running Championship 2026. The race is classed AS under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules and holds a permit with associated UK Athletics insurance from the FRA. Teams are allowed and the minimum age for entry is 16.

Course and entry

The senior route is 8.5 km (about 5.3 miles) with approximately 400 m of climb. The course passes the 'Pots and Pans' monument and reaches Shaw Rocks as the highest point before returning toward Alderman's Hill, including a technical downhill section and a steep return to the shoulder of Alderman's Hill. For 2026 the event base has moved from the Rugby Club to the Satellite Centre on Wellington Road, Greenfield, opposite the start line. Entry is available in advance and on the day. Pre-entry fees are listed separately for members and non-members, and an on-the-day entry option is provided for a stated fee. FRA mandatory kit requirements will be determined on the day.
