Alderman's Ascent

Alderman's Ascent takes place on Saturday 25 July 2026 and marks the race's tenth anniversary. The event is a fell race run under Fell Runners Association rules and will serve as a counter race for the English Fell Running Championship 2026.

The course is 8.5 km long with over 400 m of climbing. The route passes the Pots and Pans monument, reaches its high point at Shaw Rocks, then returns toward Alderman's Hill. The route includes a long technical downhill section followed by a sustained uphill to the shoulder of Alderman's Hill and then a return to the finish.

For 2026 the event base moves from the Rugby Club to the Satellite Centre on Wellington Road in Greenfield, located opposite the start line. The race is classed as an AS category event according to FRA rules; mandatory kit will be decided on the day. Organisers advise that participants bring the full kit recommended by the Fell Runners Association.

Volunteer marshals are used at the event. Volunteers receive race credit that can be applied to other races organised by the same team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
