The Two Roses Ultra is an ultramarathon based at Wadsworth Community Centre, Old Town, Hebden Bridge. It offers three distance options:

  • 50 km - Red Rose loop
  • 50 km - White Rose loop
  • 100 km - Figure-of-eight combining both loops

Entry is open to people aged 18 or older. Standard entry fees listed are £55 for each 50 km option, £100 for the 100 km, and a youth (U23) fee of £20. The event includes GPS tracking and timing, a bespoke finisher medal, free downloadable photography, and hot food at checkpoints and the finish.

Routes and logistics

The Red Rose route crosses moorland and rugged terrain, passing Hebden Bridge, Heptonstall, the Calderdale Way and Pennine Way, Widdop Reservoir, Worsthorne, Townley Park in Burnley, Cliviger, trig points on the moor, Walsden, Gaddings Dam and Stoodley Pike before returning to Old Town. The White Rose route uses woodland and road sections, running via Walshaw Moor, Haworth, Keighley, Lund Park, Bingley golf club, Cottingley Woods, Hallas Bridge waterfalls, Doe Park reservoir, Ogden Water and the Leadbeater Dam checkpoint. Leadbeater Dam is the final checkpoint and the only cut off for the 100 km.

For the 100 km the event HQ doubles as the mid-way checkpoint where hot food is available, drop bags may be left, and a headtorch must be carried for the second loop. Checkpoints are described as well stocked and vegan-friendly. There is a bus link between Hebden Bridge train station and Old Town and limited street parking in the village.
