Two Rose Ultra
The Two Rose Ultra is an ultramarathon offering a choice of two 50 km loops or the full 100 km course. Race headquarters are at Wadsworth Community Centre in Old Town, Hebden Bridge. The event combines trail, moorland and road sections around Lancashire and Yorkshire.
Distances
- 50 km Red Rose loop
- 50 km White Rose loop
- 100 km Two Roses (both loops)
The Red Rose loop runs from Old Town into Hebden Bridge, then climbs through Heptonstall and follows sections of the Calderdale Way and the Pennine Way to Widdop Reservoir. It continues into Lancashire via Worsthorne and Townley Park in Burnley, climbs moorland trig points, drops into Walsden, then climbs to Gaddings Dam and reaches Stoodley Pike before returning to Old Town.
The White Rose loop heads via Walshaw Moor toward Haworth, follows roadier sections into Keighley and Lund Park, then rejoins trails at Bingley golf club through Cottingley Woods and past Hallas Bridge. Runners pass Doe Park reservoir and Ogden Water before the final checkpoint at Leadbeater Dam. For the 100 km route Leadbeater Dam is the final checkpoint and is the only cut off.
The event uses the long daylight near the summer solstice. HQ serves as the 100 km mid-way checkpoint with hot food and provision for drop bags; runners starting the second loop must carry a headtorch. Organisers provide support crew, well-stocked vegan-friendly checkpoints, GPS tracking and timing, bespoke finisher medals, hot food at registration and finish, and free event photography.
