Ilkley Skyline (35km / 21km)

The Ilkley Skyline is a fell running event based at The Hermit Inn in Burley in Wharfedale. The main route is a roughly 22 mile loop with about 3000 ft of ascent. A shorter option follows the same line as a point to point.

Distances

  • 35 km (about 22 miles) with approximately 910 m ascent
  • 21 km point to point from Addingham suspension bridge to The Hermit

The loop starts and finishes at The Hermit in Burley Woodhead and passes Beamsley Beacon, Round Hill and summits on Burley Moor, Ilkley Moor and Rombalds Moor, covering at least eight moors in total. Most of the course is on fell or field terrain with some short sections of road; the longest road section is the climb up from the river at the stepping stones through Burley back to The Hermit.

The race includes multiple checkpoints and two aid stations located at Addingham (14 km) and Timble (25 km). The route is unmarked so participants must use a route map or GPX file for navigation; GPX files are permitted. The course runs on publicly accessible land and recces are encouraged but not required.

Event parking is at Scalebor Car Park LS29 7SQ and parking at The Hermit is limited to patrons. Registration and the race finish take place outside The Hermit Inn. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
