The Ilkley Skyline is a fell running event organised by Great Owl Running. It takes place on 15 August 2026 and starts and finishes at The Hermit Inn, Moor Rd, Burley in Wharfedale, Ilkley LS29 7AS. Entry prices are listed from £17.00 to £22.00.

Distances and route

The main route is 22 miles with 3000 ft elevation (listed as 35 km with 910 m). The course is a loop that starts and finishes at the Hermit in Burley Woodhead and passes Beamsley Beacon, Round Hill and the summits along Burley Moor, Ilkley Moor and Rombalds Moor. The route covers at least eight moors. Most terrain is fell or field running with some short road sections; the longest road section is the climb up from the river at the stepping stones through Burley back to the Hermit.

Navigation and support

The route is unmarked and runners require a route map or GPX file to navigate; GPX is allowed. The route takes place on 100% accessible land and recces are encouraged but not essential. The event includes a number of checkpoints and two aid stations located at Addingham (14 km) and Timble (25 km).
