The Dun Holm Challenge 2027 - All Days

This is a seven hour Time Challenge held from Durham Amateur Rowing Club on a signed trail beside the River Wear with views of the Cathedral. Participants choose how many laps to run within the time limit; the event is organised in conjunction with Circuit Running. Walkers are permitted and the course is fully signed so no navigation experience is required.

Distances and lap structure:

  • Minimum distance: 3 km as part of a lap.
  • Full lap: 4.37 miles or 7 km, may change to a 3.28 mile loop.
  • Half marathon: three laps.
  • Marathon: six laps.
  • Ultra: seven laps or more; 50 km option available.

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal; additional pins are issued for half marathon and longer distances. Aid and drinks tables are available at the start and finish of each lap with snacks and vegan options. Goody bags are provided with a vegan choice on request. Toilets and changing facilities are at race HQ. Bag drop is available but unstaffed and left at the participant's responsibility; the organiser accepts no liability for lost items. Pay and display parking is available in the city centre and nearby streets; participants must not use the rowing club car park. Bone conducting headphones are permitted. Trail races at Forcett Hall on a historic estate, offering 5 km, 10 km (two laps) and a 5 km walk over pasture, tracks and woodland; trail shoes recommended and places are limited to 200 entrants.

Traverse the scenic Cleveland Hills in this 77.3 km ultra marathon from Ingleby Cross to Robin Hood Bay. Runners have 15 hours to complete the course featuring over 1700 meters of ascent through North Yorkshire.
