Lord of The Run - North

Lord of The Run - North is a trail running event held at the Durham Amateur Rowing Club. The course follows a stretch of the River Wear, offering views of the Cathedral. This is a 7 hour time challenge event where participants have control over the total distance they complete within the time limit. The route is fully signed on public footpaths, and no navigational experience is necessary.

The event uses a lap system where a full lap is approximately 7 km (4.37 miles), though this may change to a 5.28 km (3.28 mile) loop depending on course conditions. Participants can choose from several distances:

  • 3 km
  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half Marathon
  • Marathon
  • 50 km
  • Ultra Marathon

A minimum distance of 3 km is required to be an official finisher. The event is open to runners and walkers of all abilities, subject to age restrictions for longer distances. An aid table located at the start and finish of each lap provides a selection of drinks, sweet and savoury snacks, and vegan options.

Finishers receive a themed medal and a goody bag. Specific distance pins are awarded to those who complete at least a half marathon. Facilities at the race headquarters include toilets and changing rooms. Paid parking is available in the city centre and nearby streets, as parking at the rowing club is not permitted.
