Community Traverse Cleveland Hills - event overview

The Community Traverse Cleveland Hills is a point to point trail running event that follows the Wainwright Coast to Coast path across the North York Moors. The route is described in organiser materials as approximately 30 km and crosses a mix of terrain.

The course starts at Ingleby Arncliffe and finishes at The Lion Inn, Blakey Ridge. Terrain includes:

  • Trail and forest tracks
  • Open and exposed moorland
  • Uneven and occasionally technical ground
  • Short sections of road

A GPX file and final route information will be provided to participants before the event. There is one checkpoint on course, CP1 Lordstones at 12.7 km, which provides water, food including vegan and gluten free options, snacks and race nutrition, indoor access and toilet facilities, and first aid support.

The event uses an overall cut off of six hours. Participants must reach the checkpoint within the cut off times published in the final event pack; those who fall behind required pace may be withdrawn for safety and operational reasons.

Safety and event procedure notes include a mandatory kit list, the issuance of a live tracker that must be returned, a requirement to follow the official route, and instructions for withdrawal via Race Control. Free parking is available at the start and a bag drop service operates from the start to the finish. The event is registered with the International Trail Running Association. This 14 km fell run in the Yorkshire Dales starts from historic Bolton Castle. The route includes 305 metres of climb and welcomes teams. Records show a fast, competitive history for this FRA-permitted event.

The Woodham Burn 5k will take place in Newton Aycliffe on Wednesday 29 July 2026. You can run 5 kilometers.

A 36 mile ultra along the full Esk Valley Way from Castleton to Whitby Harbour, fully way marked with GPS tracking, checkpoints and support.

A fell race held during the Osmotherley Show on Saturday 1 August 2026, covering 8.8 km with 320 m of climb. Open to runners aged 16 and over, entry is on the day and show admission is required.
