The Hardmoors 26.2 White Horse races take place on Sunday 10 May 2026 at Sutton Bank Visitor Centre near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. The event offers three circular trail distances:

  • Marathon - 28 miles
  • Half Marathon - 17 miles
  • 10k - 8 miles (1600 feet ascent)

The event has a participant limit of 250. Age minimums are 18 for the marathon, 16 for the half marathon, and 10 for the 10k. Time limits are 9 hours for the marathon, 6 hours for the half marathon, and 4 hours for the 10k. Prize categories include overall male and female places, veteran categories (50, 60, 70 and above where applicable) and a non-binary category.

Course, navigation and kit

Courses are circular and are not fully taped or signed. Competitors are provided with downloadable route descriptions, maps and GPX files and must navigate themselves; printing and carrying the route description and map is required. The race is cupless; competitors should bring a cup for checkpoint drinks.

Mandatory kit must be carried for the duration of the event. For the marathon and half marathon this includes a waterproof jacket, hat and gloves, printed route description and map, capacity to carry 500 ml fluid, a survival bag and a foil blanket. The 10k requires a printed route description and map, a survival bag and a foil blanket. Failure to carry mandatory kit may result in disqualification.
