Hardmoors 26.2: White Horse
This trail event takes place on Sunday 10th May 2026 at the Sutton Bank Visitor Centre near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. Three race distances are offered: a marathon (29 miles / 46.7 km with 3400 feet / 1036 m of ascent), a half marathon (13.1 miles / 21.1 km with 1900 feet / 579 m of ascent), and a trail 10k (6.2 miles / 10 km with 1000 feet / 305 m of ascent). The venue is the Sutton Bank Visitor Centre.
The event features separate start times and time limits for each distance. The marathon has a 9-hour limit, the half marathon has 6 hours, and the 10k has 4 hours. All participants must provide their own printed route description and map. The course is not marked with tape or signs, so navigation is the runner's responsibility.
Participants are required to carry compulsory kit, which varies by distance. For the marathon and half marathon, this includes a waterproof jacket, a hat, gloves, a printed map and description, capacity to carry 500ml of fluid, a survival bag, a foil blanket, and a means to attach a race number. The 10k kit list is shorter but includes the printed map and description, survival bag, and foil blanket.
The event operates with clear policies: no dogs are permitted, there is a no-deferral policy, but runners can transfer their entry to another person via the online system. The event is cupless; participants must bring their own reusable cup or bottle. An optional race t-shirt is available for an extra fee upon entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
