The Eight Stations Ultra is a trail running event held on Sunday 12 July 2026. The route runs from Whitby to Pickering with registration at Whitby Leisure Centre. Distances offered include:

  • 50K

Entry fees are listed as £67 standard or £65 affiliate. The event has a minimum entry age of 20. The event will be fully tracked in 2026 by Open Tracking.

Course and logistics

The course is partially self-navigational and a GPX file and route description are provided. The route follows the Esk Valley Railway line and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway line and passes eight railway stations. Total elevation is 3322 ft. The surface is trail terrain and participants should expect mud, rocks and tree roots. There are four marshaled checkpoints with water available and basic snacks at two checkpoints. A 13 hour cutoff applies and tail runners will support the finish. Walkers are permitted if they can complete the course within the cutoff. Dogs are not allowed. A coach from Pickering to Whitby is available for an additional fee. First aid will be available on the day. Trophies are awarded in overall and age-category placements.
