CBTE Eight Stations Ultra

The CBTE Eight Stations Ultra is a trail running event taking place in North Yorkshire. The route starts at the Whitby Leisure Centre and concludes in Pickering. Participants follow a course that primarily moves along the Esk Valley Railway Line and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Line. This event is open to participants aged 20 or older, and the 13 hour cutoff time allows for the participation of fast walkers.

The course features one main distance:

  • 30 miles (48 km) with 3322 ft of total elevation gain.

The terrain consists of traditional trail conditions, including mud, rocks, and wooded areas. Much of the path runs alongside active railway tracks, where steam trains are frequently in operation. The route passes by eight different railway stations between the start and finish locations.

This event is partially self-navigational. To assist with movement, the organizer provides a GPX file, a route map, and a step by step written description of the course. For the 2026 edition, participants are monitored via full tracking services provided by Open Tracking. Awards and trophies are presented to the first place finishers in the male, female, and non-binary categories, as well as age-specific categories for those aged 50, 60, and 70.
