Locomotion Trail Runs

Locomotion Trail Runs takes place at Locomotion, Station Road, Eaglescliffe on 20 September 2026. The event uses sections of the original S&DR railway route and passes through Preston Park and the Teesdale Way, with a start and finish at Locomotion.

Distances available:

• 10 miles : route via Preston Park, Teesdale Way to S&DR Ticket Office Stockton and return (3 miles road / 7 miles track).
• 5 miles : route from S&DR Ticket Office Stockton along Teesdale Way to Locomotion (1.5 miles road / 3.5 miles track).

Entries open 10 May 2026 and close 20 September 2026. Minimum age is 10 years; entrants aged 10 to 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Team entry is available for the 5 mile event with four people per team. Published entry fees apply for individual and team categories.

Proceeds support the Great North Air Ambulance and Motor Neurone Disease charities; half of the event receipts are allocated to the latter. Northern Rail provides free use of the Eaglescliffe Station car park for competitors and supporters, and offers free rail tickets for 5 mile runners between Eaglescliffe and Thornaby. All finishers receive medals and trophies are awarded to male and female winners. The event is organised by the Locomotion Hotel with local partner organisations and sponsors.
