The Snow Globe Gallop Bobble Hat Run - North

The Snow Globe Gallop Bobble Hat Run is a trail time challenge held on 13 December 2026 at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Lane, Old Elvet, Durham. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and is held under UK Athletics rules.

This is a 7 hour Time Challenge that allows participants to choose how many laps to run. The minimum official finishing distance is 3 km. A full lap is listed as 7 km (4.37 miles) but may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. The course includes 3 km and 5 km turn points within the lap to meet age restrictions. Laps required for common distances:

  • 3 km minimum finisher distance
  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half marathon (3 laps)
  • Marathon (6 laps)
  • 50 km
  • Ultra marathon (7 or more laps)
  • Time Challenge up to 7 hours

The course runs along the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and is fully signed. Aid and drinks tables are available at the start/finish of each lap with a mix of drinks and snacks, including vegan options. Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal and a bobble hat; distance pins are given for half marathon and longer distances. Toilets and changing facilities are at race HQ. Bag drop is available but unstaffed and left at participants sole responsibility. Pay and display parking is available nearby; parking in the rowing club car park is not permitted. Headphones are allowed. The event takes place on public footpaths so consideration for other path users is requested. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
