Chopwell Woods Christmas Trail Races
Scheduled for 20 December 2026, the Chopwell Woods Christmas Trail Runs take place at Chopwell Woods, Rowlands Gill, Gateshead. The site is a 360-hectare mixed woodland managed by Forestry England and is the original venue used by the organiser in 2019.
Event distances include:
- Family 1 Mile (ages 3–11; adult runs free with child)
- 4 Mile (ages 11+)
- 8 Mile (ages 16+)
The event is canicross friendly; one controlled dog per runner is allowed. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North. Finishers of the 4 Mile and 8 Mile routes receive an event medal, event merchandise, mince pies, chocolates and a drink. Family Mile finishers receive an event medal, a drink and a selection box. An event T-shirt is available to purchase for £14.
There is free parking on site, though spaces are very limited. Scott Sports will run a shoe demo at the event; demo pairs are available on a first come first served basis. The event supports the Daft As A Brush charity and accepts donations for that charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
