Chopwell Woods Christmas Trail Races
The event returns to Chopwell Woods, Rowlands Gill, Gateshead, a 360-hectare mixed woodland managed by Forestry England. It offers family and distance trail runs on marked routes through the woodland.
Distances and age guidance:
- Family 1 Mile (ages 3–11; adult runs free with child)
- 4 Mile (ages 11+)
- 8 Mile (ages 16+)
The event is canicross friendly, permitting one controlled dog per runner. Live chip timing is provided. Finishers in the 4 and 8 mile events receive an event medal, event merchandise, mince pies, chocolates and a drink. Family Mile finishers receive an event medal, a drink and a selection box. An event T-shirt is available to purchase for £14.
On-site parking is free but spaces are very limited; walking or car sharing is recommended. SCOTT Sports will run a shoe demo at the venue, with demo pairs available on a first come, first served basis. The event supports Daft As A Brush Charity; the charity arranges free transport for cancer patients to and from treatment and is funded by donations and fundraising.
