The Hardmoors 60 is an ultramarathon scheduled for 19th September 2026. The course is approximately 63 miles long with about 8,202 ft (2,500 m) of ascent. Competitors have an 18-hour time limit to complete the route. Entry places are limited and include options for solo runners and relay teams.

Route and checkpoints

The route follows the Cleveland Way from Guisborough to Filey along the Cleveland Coast, passing Saltburn, Runswick Bay, Staithes, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Ravenscar and Scarborough. The main checkpoints are at Highcliff Nab, Saltburn Bandstand, Runswick Bay (top car park), Sandsend car park, Hornblower Lodge (water only), Ravenscar (St Hilda's Church), Scarborough (Holbeck car park) and the finish at Filey Methodist Church. There are possible extra water points at Skinningrove (around 13 miles) and Crookness (around 47 miles). Some locations have restrictions on support crews.

Entry, equipment and services

Entries open via the organiser with set fees and closing dates. A tracker is included in the entry and is allocated at registration for safety and tracking. Each competitor may leave two non-returnable drop bags: Drop Bag 1 to Runswick Bay (about 21 miles) and Drop Bag 2 to Ravenscar (about 40 miles). Mandatory kit includes a waterproof jacket, hat or bandana and gloves, spare warm layer, two headtorches or a headtorch plus spare, a paper map, whistle, survival bag/foil blanket, mobile phone with spare power and at least 0.5 litre of drink to carry. Scarborough Rock on 10 January 2026 offers 16 and 26 mile walking and running routes along Scarborough coast, Oliver's Mount and moorland. The popular LDWA event is based at Scalby Parish Hall and is full with a waiting list.

A classic winter fell race in Commondale, North York Moors, featuring 8.3 km and 220 m of climb starting from the village hall. Entry on the day and a friendly winter series vibe make it ideal for adventurous runners.

Join a guided recce of the Hardmoors 55 on 17 January 2026, around 25 miles from Osmotherley to Helmsley with checkpoints and hot drinks at the finish. Not a race, groups are led by experienced run leaders with sweepers.

Join the Rise From The Ashes Run, a 7 hour timed trail along the River Wear with stunning Cathedral views, offering distances from a short 3 km up to marathon and ultra options. Finishers get a themed medal and goody bag with vegan choices.
