About the race
Oswiu’s Revenge is a trail running event of about 13.2 miles around the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area to the south of Osmotherley. The event starts from Square Corner just outside Osmotherley and is organised by SilverBack Trails. Entry is limited to 50 participants and all entrants must be at least 18 years old.
The route uses forest tracks and ancient trods and offers extensive views of the North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York. The terrain is varied and includes a number of technical ascents and descents. The route will be shown on a master map at registration, a GPX file will be sent to participants, and there will be some flags and marshals to aid navigation. A recce of the route is advised.
There will be one checkpoint on course offering water, coke and sweets and snacks, and provisions at the finish suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Each finisher will receive a bespoke medal and a certificate. There is a four hour time limit for the event.
Participants must carry minimum kit including a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat and gloves, a spare thermal top or jacket for emergency use only, an emergency bivvy bag, 500 millilitres of fluid, at least 60 grams of food, a fully charged mobile phone with What3words and OS Locate or OS Maps loaded, a working compass, and an OL 26 OS Map or Harvey’s Map of the North Yorkshire Moors. There is ample parking at the start with a £1 per car donation to the National Park. Optional event technical T shirt is available for purchase.
