Silverbacktrails - Oswiu's Revenge

Event Overview

Oswiu's Revenge is a trail running event covering a distance of circa 13.2 miles. It takes place on Sunday, 17th May 2026. The route explores the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area south of Osmotherley, following forest tracks and ancient paths. The course offers views of the North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York.

Event Details

The start and finish location is Square Corner, just outside Osmotherley. Entry is limited to 50 participants and is only available online in advance, with no entries on the day. All participants must be at least 18 years old.

Every finisher receives a bespoke medal and a certificate. There is an overall time limit of 3.5 hours. Water, soft drinks, and snacks are available at one checkpoint on the course and at the finish. The event is dog-friendly; participants with dogs must keep them on a short lead or harness and will start five minutes after the main group.

Mandatory Kit

All competitors are required to carry a specific list of mandatory equipment. This includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams (unless using Paramo), hat and gloves, a spare thermal top, an emergency bivvy bag, at least 500ml of fluid, at least 60 grams of food, a fully charged mobile phone (with What3words and OS mapping apps), a working compass, and either the OL 26 OS Map or Harvey’s Map of the North Yorkshire Moors.

Course and Navigation

The route features varied terrain. For navigation, the event uses some flags and marshals. A master map of the route will be displayed at registration, and a GPX file will be sent to participants beforehand.
