SilverBackTrails Oswiu's Revenge

Oswiu's Revenge is a trail running event covering approximately 13.2 miles through the North York Moors. The route traverses the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area south of Osmotherley, following a combination of forest tracks and ancient trods. Participants can expect scenic views of the North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York throughout the course.

The event is restricted to a maximum of 50 participants, ensuring a low-key atmosphere. Runners must be at least 18 years old to enter. The terrain is varied and includes several technical ascents and descents. There is a total time limit of 3.5 hours to complete the course.

A mandatory kit list is required for all competitors due to the potential for changing weather conditions. This includes:

• A waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, and gloves.
• A spare thermal top or jacket and an emergency bivvy bag.
• At least 500 ml of fluid and 60 grams of food.
• A fully charged mobile phone with navigation apps, a working compass, and a physical OS Map (OL 26) or Harvey's Map of the North Yorkshire Moors.

The route will be marked on a master map at registration, and a GPX file is provided to participants in advance. There are also flags and marshals at certain points to assist with navigation. One checkpoint on the course and the finish area provide water, beverages, and snacks, including vegan and vegetarian options.

The event starts and finishes at Square Corner near Osmotherley, where parking is available for a small fee donated to the National Park. Dogs are permitted to participate if kept on a short lead; canine teams start five minutes after the main field. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and a certificate.
