SilverBackTrails Oswiu’s Revenge - Half Marathon takes place on 17 May 2026 and is organised by SilverBack Trails. The route starts and finishes at Square Corner, near Osmotherley. The event distance is approximately 13.2 miles. Entry is limited to 50 participants, with a minimum age of 18. Entries open 29 May 2025 and close 16 May 2026, and all entries must be made via SiEntries; there are no entries on the day. The entry fee is £20.00. There is ample parking at the start/finish; a £1 per car charge will be collected on the day and donated to the National Park. Each finisher receives a bespoke medal and a certificate. The event has a time limit of 3.5 hours.

Course and logistics

The course is a trail route around the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area south of Osmotherley, mainly on forest tracks and ancient trods, with varied terrain and some technical ascents and descents. There will be flags and marshals to aid navigation, the route will be shown on a master map at registration, and a GPX file will be sent to participants before the event. One checkpoint on course and the finish will supply water, coke and sweet snacks; provisions suitable for vegetarians and vegans will be available. Competitors must carry minimum kit including a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat and gloves, a spare thermal top or jacket for emergency use, an emergency bivvy bag, 500 ml of fluid, at least 60 g of food, a fully charged mobile phone with What3words and OS Locate or OS Maps loaded, a working compass, and an OL26 OS Map or Harvey’s Map of the North Yorkshire Moors. Canine running partners are permitted on a short lead or harness; dog-powered runners start five minutes after the rest of the field and have their time limit adjusted accordingly.
