SilverBackTrails Oswiu's Revenge

Oswiu's Revenge is a trail running event covering approximately 13.2 miles in the area south of Osmotherley. The route traverses the landscape of Black Hambleton and Silton Woods, utilizing a combination of forest tracks and ancient trods. Participants can observe views of the North York Moors and the Vale of York throughout the course.

The terrain is varied and includes several technical ascents and descents. The event has a time limit of 3.5 hours for completion. While the route includes some flags and marshals to assist with navigation, participants are provided with a GPX file and must observe a mandatory kit list for safety. Required items include a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, a spare thermal top, an emergency bivvy bag, a working compass, and a physical OS Map (OL 26 or Harvey's). Runners must also carry a fully charged mobile phone and a minimum of 500 ml of fluid and 60 grams of food.

One checkpoint on the course and the finish line offer water, soda, and snacks, including vegetarian and vegan options. The event is limited to 50 participants, and all runners must be at least 18 years old.

The event is dog-friendly, provided animals are kept on a short lead or harness. Canine participants and their owners start five minutes after the main field. Parking is available at the Square Corner start and finish location for a small fee donated to the National Park. Each finisher receives a bespoke medal and a certificate.
