Silverbacktrails - Oswiu's Revenge

Event overview

SilverBackTrails Oswiu’s Revenge - Half Marathon takes place on 17 May 2026 at Square Corner, near Osmotherley, North Yorkshire. The route is a trail running course of circa 13.2 miles around the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area. The event is organised by SilverBack Trails. Entry is limited to 50 participants, the minimum age is 18, and the entry fee is £20. Entries are via SiEntries only; there are strictly no entries on the day.

Course and logistics

The course uses forest tracks and ancient trods with views of the North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York. Navigation aids include some flags and marshals, a master map at registration, and a GPX file that will be sent to participants before the event. There is one on-course checkpoint offering water, cola, sweets and snacks, and similar provisions at the finish; options suitable for vegetarians and vegans will be available. A 3.5 hour time limit applies.

Participants must carry minimum safety kit: waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat and gloves, a spare thermal top or emergency jacket, an emergency bivvy bag, at least 500 ml fluid, at least 60 g of food, a fully charged mobile phone with What3words and an OS locating app, a working compass, and an OL 26 OS Map or Harvey’s Map of the North Yorkshire Moors. There is ample parking at the start/finish and a £1 parking charge will be collected for the National Park. Canine running partners are allowed on a short lead or harness; dog-powered entrants start five minutes after the rest of the field and their time limit will be adjusted accordingly.
