About the race
The Jolly Holly Jog takes place on Monday 28 December 2026 in Ripon, North Yorkshire. The event is a single-lap, multi-terrain road and trail race of approximately 10 km on an undulating course that mainly follows public footpaths and parkland.
The route starts at Hell Wath Nature Reserve, continues up Whitcliffe Lane and through Mackershaw Woods and Studley Deer Park, passes Monty’s bench, exits Studley via the main gate and Plumpton Lane, and returns over a short steep climb in Mackershaw Woods before finishing back on the field at Hell Wath. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs, prams or pushchairs. A route map will be displayed at Race HQ.
Race HQ is at Panthers Football Club, Hell Wath, Ripon HG4 2JT. Facilities listed for the event include water, distance markers and portable toilets; there are no changing facilities, showers or baggage storage. Mobile refreshments will be available near the start and finish serving hot drinks, sandwiches and cakes.
The event has an entry limit of 1000. Entry fees listed are affiliated £17.50 and unaffiliated £19.50, with early-bird pricing for the first 400 entries and different prices once that allocation is filled. Entries after 1 December 2026 include a tree planted and do not include a JHJ T-shirt.
The event supports a local charity and includes a drop-off point at Race HQ for donations to a local food bank; requested items include tinned and non-perishable food, cereals, tea and coffee, and toiletries such as feminine products, toilet roll, shampoo, deodorant and toothpaste. Prizes are awarded for the first three male and female finishers, age-grade winners and a locally based club trophy. The race is unsuitable for dogs and has a minimum age of 15.
