Punk Panther Christmas Cracker

The Punk Panther Christmas Cracker is a trail running event based in Otley, finishing at The Bridge United Reform Church, Cattlemarket Street, LS21 1RW. The route offers views across the Dales, weather permitting, and now uses a mass start for the distances. A Half Ultra is offered as a shorter ultramarathon option.

Distances and key metrics:

  • 12 miles
  • 19 miles
  • 32 miles

Each distance has a recorded climb: 1700, 2200 and 3400 feet respectively. ITRA and UTMB points apply to the distances as published by the organiser. The event is restricted to entrants aged 18 or older and has a maximum field of 100 runners.

There are three checkpoints on the courses located at Timble, Langbar and Stainburn Forest. Checkpoints provide drinks and food with vegan and gluten free options. Ultramarathon entrants receive a tracker; 12 and 19 mile entrants can hire a tracker for a fee. The organiser supplies provisional GPX files and a route description; final instructions and any last minute changes are sent to competitors before the event.

A mandatory kit list applies to all distances and includes a waterproof jacket, sufficient fluids, a cup, survival bag, whistle, mobile phone, head torch, map and personal first aid items. Finishers receive a medal and an event T shirt unless they opt out; hot food and drinks are available at the finish. Dogs are allowed on the race subject to rules but are not permitted inside the church at the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
