North Leeds Skyline (50km, 25km, 15km) : Otley

The event is organised by Great Owl Running and is based at Station Top, East Chevin Road, Otley (opposite Wharfedale Farmers Market) LS21 3BD. The terrain is public footpaths and trail. Parking and race HQ are at Station Top. Toilets are available a short walk into Otley and there are course toilets at Shadwell, Thorner and Bramhope. Post-race awards are handed out as results come in.

Event details

Distances offered include:

  • ~50 km / 30 miles ultra trail with about 1000 m elevation
  • 25 km / 15 miles super trail with about 650 m elevation
  • 16 km / 10 miles challenge trail with about 500 m elevation

There is also a 50 km relay for teams of four with legs of 10 km, 15 km, 16 km and 10 km. The courses are waymarked with colour coding: Blue arrows for the ultra, Green for the super, Yellow for the challenge, and Pink arrows for routes shared by all races. Runners must carry a provided route map; a GPX file and route map are made available beforehand. The ultra has a number of manned checkpoints with water. Snacks are available at Bank Top Farm and Shadwell, and ultra runners may leave a bag to be transported to Bank Top Farm.

Mandatory kit for all races includes a 500 ml water container, route map, waterproof jacket or extra warm layer, and suitable off-road shoes. Ultra entrants must also carry a mobile phone. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
