Panopticons Ultra

Panopticons Ultra is a point-to-point trail ultra of 32 miles (52 km) around East Lancashire that visits the four Panopticons art installations in the South Pennines. The route starts from Corporation Park in Blackburn and finishes in the village of Trawden, passing Colourfields, Halo, the Singing Ringing Tree and the Atom at Wycoller.

The course uses sections of the Pennine Way, the Rossendale Way and the Pennine Bridleway near the foothills of Boulsworth Hill. The route includes varied up and downs and a total ascent of about 4,700 ft (1,430 m). The course passes through villages reflecting East Lancashire’s industrial heritage and local rolling countryside.

A map, GPX file and basic written instructions will be provided to entrants. Transport is provided to the start location and registration takes place in Trawden. Entries open 16 May 2025 and close 20 May 2026; the entry fee is £35. Transfers are allowed up to the entries close date and a donation from the event will be made to local charitable causes.

All entrants must carry appropriate kit for an off-road ultra. Required items include full body waterproof cover, a map, compass, whistle, mug and a fully charged mobile phone. Appropriate fell or trail footwear is required. Some navigational ability is needed. Minimum entrant age is 18 years. No dogs are allowed. A fell race in Horwich on 4 April 2026 organised by Horwich RMI Harriers with registration at the Crown Public House and start and finish at Lever Park Avenue; junior entrants under 16 must enter the junior race.

Lets Motor along the Towpath in Rodley is a canal-side trail event on a flat towpath with distances from 10k to ultramarathon. The course is signed and marshalled, has regular feed stations and a bespoke finisher medal.

Experience Halifax like never before. The Halifax Urban Trail is a unique 10K route that takes runners through the town's historic buildings, from Shibden Park to the Piece Hall. This inaugural event supports a local hospice charity.

A short fell race in Haworth on 7 April 2026 covering 4.8 km with about 100 m of climb; finishers receive a Cadbury's Creme Egg and prizes are Easter eggs. Entry is possible on the day or by pre-entry for the series.
