Panopticons Ultra

Panopticons Ultra is a point-to-point trail ultramarathon around East Lancashire that follows upland trails in the South Pennines. The route is 32 miles (52 km) with approximately 4,700 ft (1,430 m) of climb and links a series of four art installations known as 'The Panopticons' by Mid Pennine Arts.

The course starts in Blackburn at Corporation Park area and finishes in the village of Trawden. Along the way it passes the installations Colourfields, Halo, Singing Ringing Tree and Atom at Wycoller, and uses sections of the Pennine Way, the Rossendale Way and the Pennine Bridleway near Boulsworth Hill. The route also visits villages that reflect East Lancashire’s industrial heritage and countryside.

A map, GPX file and basic written instructions are provided. Organisers supply transport from the finish area to the start and parking is available close to the finish location. Entry is managed through SiEntries and an entry fee applies.
