Event overview

The Panopticons Ultra is a trail ultra run scheduled for 23 May 2026. It is a point-to-point route of 32 miles (about 52 km) with approximately 4,700 ft (1,430 m) of climb. The route is in East Lancashire and the South Pennines and includes the four art installations known as The Panopticons by Mid Pennine Arts.

The route starts from Corporation Park in Blackburn and finishes in the village of Trawden. Along the way the course passes Colourfields, Halo on the hills of Haslingden, the Singing Ringing Tree overlooking Burnley, and the Atom at Wycoller. The route uses parts of the Pennine Way, the Rossendale Way and the Pennine Bridleway at the foothills of Boulsworth Hill.

Logistics and requirements

Entrants will receive a map, a GPX file and basic written instructions. Transport is provided to the start from the event area in Trawden and parking is available nearby. There is an overall finish cut-off that gives a 10 hour time limit to complete the course.

Participants must be at least 18 years old. Entrants are required to carry full body waterproof cover, a map, compass, whistle, a mug and a fully charged mobile phone. Appropriate fell or trail footwear must be worn. Some navigational ability is required. No dogs are allowed. Entry fee is £35. Organiser listed as Run JMC.
