Panopticons Ultra is a point-to-point trail ultra on Saturday 23 May 2026 around East Lancashire. The course is about 32 miles (52 km) with approximately 4,700 ft of climb (1,430 m). The route visits four art installations known as the Panopticons and follows sections of the Pennine Way, the Rossendale Way and the Pennine Bridleway at the foothills of Boulsworth Hill. The route passes through Blackburn, Haslingden, areas overlooking Burnley, Wycoller and finishes in the village of Trawden.

Practical information

Entries open 16 May 2025 and close 20 May 2026. The entry fee is £35. A map, GPX file and basic written instructions will be provided. Registration takes place in Trawden and transport to the start is provided; parking is available nearby. There is a 10-hour completion limit for the course.

Entrants must be at least 18 years old. Some navigational ability is required. Mandatory kit includes full body waterproof cover, map, compass, whistle, mug, a fully charged mobile phone and appropriate fell or trail footwear. OS 1:25k map of the route will be available and OS Maps are recommended. Transfers are allowed up to the entry close date. A donation will be made to local charitable causes. No dogs are allowed.
