Trail Running calendar near Thornhill 2026-2027

Fell race on 5 July 2026 around Skiddaw in the Lake District, based at Keswick Cricket Club. The course is 15.4 km with 960 m of ascent and entry on the day is accepted for a fee of £10.

A muddy 5k obstacle event at Bitts Park in Carlisle where participants climb, crawl and slide around a mainly flat course. Open to ages 13 and over and organised by Cancer Research UK to raise funds for research.

Alva Games is the BOFRA British Championship hill race near Alva, Stirling, held on 11 July 2026. The course is about 1.6 miles with 365 metres of climb and features steep ground, thorny gorse and a muddy gully.

A long mountain fell race in Wasdale covering 34 km and about 2750 m of ascent, featuring high ground and multiple checkpoints including Scafell Pike and Great Gable. Full FRA kit is required and a provided tracker is mandatory for entrants..

A 10 km race through the historic grounds of Floors Castle in Kelso on 12 July 2026. Mixed road and trail surfaces, a water station near 5 km, finishing refreshments, and medals and goodie bags for all finishers.

A chip-timed 5k, 10k and half marathon at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh with a measured course, hydration stations, marshals and a finisher's medal. Age guidance applies and dogs are not permitted.

A junior fell-racing round at Whinlatter Forest Park on 12 July 2026, with races for U10 to U20 categories and mapped courses of 1.5–5.6 km. Junior entries are by pre-entry only and the event follows FRA rules.

Chapelfell Top is an AS graded 7 km fell race in St. John’s Chapel, Weardale featuring 400 m of ascent to the 703 m summit and a return on the same route. The event is organised by Durham Fell Runners and run under FRA rules.

A multi-terrain 15 km festival in Moffat held under UK Athletics rules with open and local prizes, veteran categories, junior races and a tots dash; route features a long climb, stony track section and a 4.6 mile descent back to town.

Run the Blades stages trail races across Whitelee Wind Farm over a weekend with 10K, half marathon, a 50K ultra and a junior mile. Routes use marked access roads with checkpoints, on site parking and an Event Village at Turbine 53.
