Lakeland Trails Ultra

Lakeland Trails Ultra offers multiple waymarked and marshalled trail events around Ambleside in the Lake District. Distances on the programme include:

  • 100k Ultra with five mountain passes, about 10,500 ft ascent and 8 feed stations.
  • 55k Ultra with three mountain passes, about 7,000 ft ascent and 5 feed stations.
  • 23k trail run sharing final sections of the ultra routes.
  • 14k trail run finishing over Loughrigg.

The 100k and 55k courses have validated GPX files and the 100k includes GPS tracking as part of the entry. Chip timing and live results are used for the other events. Both the 100k and 55k have compulsory registration, kit checks and photographic ID is required to collect race numbers. A mandatory kit list for the ultra distances includes full waterproof jacket and trousers, a charged head torch (plus spare batteries or an extra torch for the 100k), a first aid kit, a long sleeve spare base layer, hat and gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone and emergency food and drink.

Feed stations supplement personal supplies and strict safety cut off times are operated. A small bag drop is available for 100k runners with specific size limits. The event village at Rothay Park provides food stalls, retail stands, commentary and entertainment, and professional medical cover and radio communications are provided on course. Take on Clough Head in the Kong Winter Series, a punchy fell race in the Lake District on 7 February 2026. Expect about 7.3 km with 570 m of climb over rugged quarry and mountain terrain for a thrilling winter challenge.

Road races of a Half Marathon and 10km through the Lorton Valley with a Cockermouth town centre start and finish. Live chip-timing, no cut-off time, and finishers receive a medal, merchandise, and refreshments.

Lakeland Paws returns to Grizedale Forest for a runnable trail event on wide forest paths. Choose between a 10k or 6k route, both chip-timed and dog-friendly. This event is part of the series' fourth season.

Tackle a challenging 2 mile fell race in scenic Barbondale, Lake District on Sun 8 Feb 2026, with 358 m of climb over flagged terrain. Part of the Helm Hill Winter League, pre entry or pay on the day; parking is very limited.
