Lakeland Trails Ultra - Ambleside, Cumbria
A series of organised trail running events based at Rothay Park in Ambleside, Cumbria, with routes through Lake District mountain scenery. Distances on offer include:
- 100k fully waymarked and marshalled ultra, 23 hour time limit, entrants 18 or over.
- 55k fully waymarked and marshalled ultra, Race and Challenge options with 12/13 hour cut offs, entrants 18 or over.
- 23k scenic trail sharing sections with the ultra routes, 5 hour time limit, entrants 18 or over.
- 14k scenic trail finishing over Loughrigg, 3 hour time limit, entrants 17 or over.
The event provides safety measures on course including advanced life support medical cover, radio communications and marshals. Compulsory kit is required for the Ultra 100k and 55k and includes waterproof top and trousers, a charged head torch (with spare for the 100k), a basic first aid kit, a mobile phone, an emergency blanket or bivi and minimum emergency food and drink. Runners are asked to carry their own water or a reusable cup for refill points.
GPX files are available for the ultra distances and real-time GPS tracking is included for the 100k. Electronic chip timing and live results are used for other events. The start and finish arena in Ambleside includes an event village with food stalls, trade stands and PA commentary. Spectators are welcome at the event village but are not permitted inside competitor feed station areas. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
