Event Details
The Wasdale Fell Race is a fell running event in the Lake District. The course is approximately 34 km (21.1 mi) long with 2,750 m (9,022 ft) of ascent. It starts at Brackenclose near the National Trust campsite in Wasdale.
Course Information
The route includes ascents of notable peaks such as Illgill Head, Whin Rigg, Seatallan, Pillar, Great Gable, and Scafell Pike. The terrain consists of grassy runs, mountain paths, and steep descents. Checkpoints are located along the route, with some having official closing times. The race is part of the Lakeland Classics Trophy.
Requirements and Logistics
The event has a minimum age requirement of 18. Entry is subject to fees. Full FRA-mandated kit is required, including waterproof top and bottoms with taped seams, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle, and emergency food. Kit will be checked before race numbers are issued. Carrying a provided FRA tracker is mandatory for this event. Use of the SPORTident timing system is included in the entry fee. Parking is available in a field east of the National Trust campsite. Car sharing is encouraged. Toilets are available in the NT car park. There is no dedicated changing area.

Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in various open and age categories, as well as for club teams. The event uses a waiting list if it becomes full, and substitutions are allowed until entries close. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
