Wasdale Fell Race

The Wasdale Fell Race is scheduled for 11 July 2026 in Wasdale, Cumbria, with the assembly area on the field east of the National Trust campsite at Brackenclose. The long fell course is approximately 34 km (21.1 mi) with about 2750 m (9022 ft) of ascent. The event is organised by the Cumberland Fell Runners Association and forms part of the Lakeland Classics Trophy.

Pre-entry is used and entries open and close on published dates. Minimum age for entry is 18. Entry fees vary by category and include light refreshment and use of the SPORTident race management system. All race SI-Cards are provided and pre-logged; personal SI-Cards are not used. The event is part of a tracker trial and carrying a provided tracker is mandatory this year; trackers are issued at registration.

Full FRA kit is required and will be checked before race numbers are issued. Required items include waterproof top and bottoms (taped with hood), hat, gloves, map of the course area, compass, whistle and emergency food.

The route begins at Brackenclose and passes multiple checkpoints including Whin Rigg, Greendale Bridge, Seatallan, Pillar, Great Gable, Esk Hause Shelter, Scafell Pike and Lingmell Nose before returning to the finish. Great Gable is the last checkpoint with a time limit; other checkpoint closing times are published. Parking, registration and the finish are at the field east of the National Trust campsite. Lakeside Relays is a charity relay at Haverthwaite Station near Ulverston, with mixed teams made on the day and all ages running together on a short 0.80 miles loop that gains about 60 feet.
