Whinlatter FRA Junior Championships

The Whinlatter FRA Junior Championships is a fell running event scheduled for Sunday 12th July 2026. Held at Whinlatter Forest Park, this competition serves as the sixth round of the FRA Junior Championship series. The races are organized by The Fell Runners Association and conducted under their specific rules and regulations.

The event offers several race categories based on the runner's age at the end of the 2026 calendar year. Participants can compete in the following distances:

  • Under 10: 1.5 km distance with 100 m ascent
  • Under 12: 2 km distance with 190 m ascent
  • Under 14: 3.2 km distance with 350 m ascent
  • Under 16 & Under 18: 3.6 km distance with 420 m ascent
  • Under 20 & Seniors: 5.6 km distance with 510 m ascent

Most routes follow an out and back format. However, the route for the Under 20 and Senior category follows a clockwise loop. The event starts at the Revelin Moss Car Park on Whinlatter Pass.

Tackle a classic Lake District fell race from Dockray to Hartside on Wed 6 May 2026, covering 10 km with a stiff 800 m of climb. Entry on the day is £5 with parking at the quarry car park. Expect a tough scenic course and friendly vibes.

A fully way marked 47 mile trail around Lake Windermere, open to runners and walkers with 24 hours to complete. The route has GPS support, five aid stations, a halfway bag drop, a finishers meal and a locally sourced medal.
