Moffat Festival of Running 2026

The event includes the 39th running of a scenic multi-terrain main race over 15 km (9.3 miles). It is organised under UK Athletics rules and holds an SAF permit. The event offers both open and local prize categories.

Prize categories include open men and women 1st to 3rd, veteran men and women (40 and over) 1st, and super veteran men and women (50 and over) 1st. Local prizes mirror the open categories. Locals remain eligible for open prizes and may win in multiple categories; local eligibility is decided by the organisers.

The main route begins with 3.75 miles of undulating terrain rising about 350 feet, followed by just under one mile of steep track climbing approximately 550 feet. That section can be stony and uneven. After the climb there is a 4.6 mile downhill return into Moffat along the A701. Mile markers are provided and drinks, sponges, and first aid are available at about 3, 5 and 8 miles. Course records are listed as 47:25 (1989) and ladies record 54:20 (1985).

Entry fees are Early Bird £14 and Normal £16, with a closing date of 10 July 2026 or earlier if capacity is reached. Late entries on the night may be limited and incur an additional £6 administration charge. Minimum age for the main race is 17. A £3 levy applies to non ScottishAthletics members. Optional technical t-shirts and mementoes for finishers are offered. No substitute entries or refunds.

Junior events include:

  • 2.3 miles for Under 17s, minimum age 11.
  • 1.4 miles for Under 11s, minimum age 5.

Junior entry fee is £3. Junior t-shirts require prepayment by BACS by 30 June 2026. A tots race for under 5s is a short dash on a closed section of the High Street with no pre-registration and no fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
