Cademuir Rollercoaster : event overview

The 13th Cademuir Rollercoaster is a pair of short hill races held on the open grassy slopes of Cademuir Hill on the south side of Peebles in the Scottish Borders. The races use off-road terrain with significant ascent over short distances.

Distances

  • 3 km - climb 105 m. Minimum age 10 by 31/12/26.
  • 6 km - climb 275 m. Minimum age 14 by 31/12/26.

Results from the 3 km race will be recorded for the SAL U12 and U14 Junior HR Leagues. Results from the 6 km race will be recorded for the SAL U20, U18 and U16 Junior HR Leagues. Prizes are allocated for seniors and for age category winners.

Online entry is preferred and there is limited entry available on the day. Race numbers are collected at Peebles High School Sports Hall before the races and course maps are provided by the organiser. The event is run under UK Athletics rules and is a Scottish Athletics licensed event. The races are sponsored by the Cademuir Clinic. A chip-timed 5k, 10k and half marathon at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh with a measured course, hydration stations, marshals and a finisher's medal. Age guidance applies and dogs are not permitted.

A scenic 15 km race in Moffat featuring a long climb and a steep stony section followed by a 4.6 mile descent into town. Junior races and a tots dash are included, with optional shirts and finisher mementoes.

A traditional hill race near Flotterstone in the Pentland Hills with a senior 5.2 km course and a shorter junior 2.2 km option, featuring steep summit climbs and marshalled routes where hill shoes and basic kit are advised.
