The Donkey Brae Races take place at Silver Sands Park in Aberdour as part of the Aberdour Festival. The event includes a selection of races that finish in the park next to the village market, which offers food and drink, a full bar, games, carnival attractions and local craft stalls.

Distances

  • 7 mile scenic course over mixed terrain between Aberdour and Dalgety Bay.
  • 2 mile route through the village and a short stretch in the woods.
  • c.1 km Fun Run around the Silver Sands playing fields.

Chip timing will be used for the 7 mile and 2 mile races and results will be published online on the day. All finishers receive a medal and there are prizes for overall and category winners. Facilities at the venue include toilets, bag drop, hydration stations on course and first aid cover. Food and drink will be available to purchase at the village market.

Access and parking are limited; participants are encouraged to use public transport and note that parking charges apply at Silver Sands Park. The car park at Aberdour train station is free but can be busy. The 7 mile race is open to those aged over 16 and the 2 mile to those aged over 9. The Fun Run is open to all; under 9s must be supervised. No dogs are allowed and the course is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Entry fees are listed as 7 Mile £18 and 2 Mile £7. Race entries close at 23:59 on 24 July 2026 or earlier if limits are reached. Transfers between runners are permitted before the closing date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

A trail race festival at Dechmont Law Park offering 10k, 6.5k and junior 2.5k races, chip timing, marshals and a 10k East District championship element.

A new midweek hill race at RSPB Loch Leven on 17 June 2026, covering 7.93 km with 370 m of ascent. Organised by Lomond Hill Runners, the event includes two main climbs, marshalls, route files online, and a donation to RSPB Loch Leven.
