Donkey Brae Races - Aberdour Festival, Silver Sands Park (02 Aug 2026)

The Donkey Brae Races are held as part of the annual Aberdour Festival at Silver Sands Park, Hawkcraig Road, Aberdour, Fife KY3 0XB. The event includes timed races using chipped bibs for the main distances and publishes results online on the day. Prizes are awarded to overall and category winners and all finishers receive a medal.

Race routes:

  • 7 mile, mixed terrain over undulating coastal paths between Aberdour and Dalgety Bay.
  • 2 mile, through the village and woods, includes the Donkey Brae climb.
  • Fun Run approximately 1 km around Silver Sands Playing Fields.

Facilities listed for the event include toilets, bag drop, hydration stations on course, first aid cover, and food and drink available at the village market. Parking at Silver Sands Park is subject to local charges and is limited; there is a free but busy car park at Aberdour train station and the location has good train links. The course is not suitable for wheelchair users and dogs are not allowed. Buggies are permitted on the Fun Run though the surface can be bumpy.

Entry details include fees of £18 for the 7 mile and £7 for the 2 mile. Entries are limited and are open until 24 July 2026 or until capacity is reached. A mainly offroad walking event from Peebles offering *27.6 miles* or *16.4 miles* routes with large climbs above the Tweed Valley and a finish in Peebles with hot food available.

Chariots of Fire Beach Race is a 5 km out and back on West Sands, St Andrews, with a 1 mile children's fun run. The event uses chip timing, offers post race refreshments and raises funds for RNLI and local charities.

Glentress 8 Hour Challenge is an 8 hour running event at Glentress on 6 June 2026 organised by NU Limits Running. Registration for this edition closed on 3 March 2026.

Obstacle races at Hopetoun Estate near Edinburgh on June 7, 2026 include Sprint 5 km, Super 10 km and Beast 21 km, plus a kids race. Participants can attempt a Trifecta in one day while Tough Mudder Scotland runs the same weekend.
