Durty Trail Weekender

Durty Trail Weekender is a weekend of off-road running around Bowhill Estate and the surrounding Border Hills near Selkirk. The event offers multiple distance options, marked routes, marshals, chip timing and race medical first aid cover.

The course terrain is mostly off-road with a mixture of hard packed paths and muddy trails, including climbs and descents. Trail shoes are recommended. Courses may be subject to change depending on weather conditions.

Distances offered:

  • 5K Durty Dash : ages 12+; ages 5-11 may run with an adult supervisor
  • 10K Weekend Wanderer : scenic loop on forest tracks and open hill views, age 16+
  • 25K Hill Hopper : climbs and descents across the Border Hills, age 16+
  • 50K Hills & Horizons : mixed terrain with sustained climbs, age 18+

Elevation gains for each distance are published: 5K 135m, 10K 406m, 25K 865m, 50K 1585m. There are no cut off times for the 5K and 10K distances. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall male and female in each event.

Camping is included for Saturday night at Selkirk Rugby Club with basic facilities including access to water, showers and toilets. Car parking is provided a short walk from race headquarters. A Bowhill Grounds & Adventure Park pass is available for access to the estate grounds and playground on the event day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Trail runs nearby

A fully off road 10km trail race at Rock UK in Newcastleton on 15 August 2026. The one lap course is chip timed with a halfway water station, marked and marshalled routes, bespoke medals and prize categories for adults and vets.

A pair of short hill races on the grassy slopes of Cademuir Hill near Peebles, offering 3 km and 6 km courses with notable climbs. Online entry is preferred and the event is Scottish Athletics licensed.

A 109 km circular trail on the Borders Abbeys Way visiting four ruined abbeys, with 50 km and four person relay options plus staffed checkpoints.

An inflatable obstacle event at Floors Castle on 29–30 August 2026 offering 2.5K and 5K course options with giant inflatables, solo or team entry, team discounts for groups of 10+, and free spectator access.
