Saint Cuthbert's Way Ultra 100KM

The event is a point to point trail race of 100 km that runs from Melrose in the Scottish Borders to Holy Island on the Northumberland coast. The route follows the way marked Saint Cuthbert's Way and crosses sections of the Scottish Borders region and Northumberland National Park. Total ascent is listed as 8067 feet and total descent as 7765 feet. The overall cut off for the race is 19.5 hours and entries are limited to 150 runners.

The race is fully marked and marshalled and provides medical cover, chip timing and instant online results. All runners receive a GPS tracker. Feed stations supply water and snacks at every checkpoint, with a wider selection of hot drinks and food at Wooler and Morebattle; runners are advised to use personal nutrition and drop bags for substantial supplies.

Registration can be completed at Wooler or Melrose. A coach transfer from Wooler to Melrose is available and a free shuttle runs from the finish at Holy Island back to Wooler. Two drop bags are permitted for the 100 km race, to be left at Wooler and Morebattle; bags should be carrier bag size, clearly labelled, and will not be returned if unused. Finish bags may be used to transfer essential items left at the start back to the finish.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes photographic ID, whistle, head torch with spare batteries, survival bag, compass and maps, hat and gloves, waterproof jacket and trousers, at least 500 ml water, emergency food, a personal cup, a fully charged phone and flashing lights for night running. Runners must be 18 or older on race day. The organisers require competitors to log at each checkpoint, follow event rules on navigation and conduct, and note that failure to meet kit, cut off or safety requirements can result in withdrawal or disqualification.
