Saint Cuthbert's Way Ultra

The Saint Cuthbert's Way Ultra follows the route of one of the United Kingdom's most popular long-distance walking paths. Organized by Trail Outlaws, this event features a course that is fully way-marked and includes a mix of terrain such as steep ascents, descents, hills, and some road sections.

Participants can choose from two main race distances:

  • 100 km
  • 45 miles

The 100 km route requires runners to manage their pace against the tide to reach Holy Island. The event provides five timed and fully stocked checkpoints to support runners throughout the course. For safety and monitoring, live GPS tracking is utilized for all participants. Recce runs are also available along the route prior to the event.

The race headquarters is located at the Wooler Youth Hostel in Northumberland. This location serves as a checkpoint for the 100 km race and the finish line for the 45 mile distance. The hostel provides facilities including hot showers for finishers and offers various overnight accommodation options, such as male and female dormitory beds or private rooms. Coach travel is available to transport athletes from Wooler to the race start in Melrose.

The event is open to participants aged 18 and over. Registration includes the use of a GPX file for navigation alongside the physical course markings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
