Saint Cuthbert's Way Ultra 100KM

Saint Cuthbert's Way Ultra is a 100 km trail race that starts in Melrose in the Scottish Borders and finishes at Holy Island on the Northumberland coast. The route follows the way marked Saint Cuthbert's Way and crosses sections of the Scottish Borders region and Northumberland National Park. The event is described as a race against the tide and requires runners to respect checkpoint cut off times.

Entry is limited to 150 runners and entrants must have completed at least a marathon distance event within the last three years. The event provides a live GPS tracker for every runner, chip timing and instant online results. Feed stations at every checkpoint supply water, sweets and snacks, with a wider selection of hot drinks and food at Wooler and Morebattle. Two drop bags are permitted for the 100 km race, to be left at Wooler and Morebattle, and runners are advised to keep these to a carrier bag size.

The course profile shows notable elevation with roughly 8,067 feet of ascent and 7,765 feet of descent and a final race cut off of 19.5 hours. The route is fully marked and marshalled and medical cover is provided. Mandatory kit includes ID, whistle, head torch with spare batteries, survival bag, compass and maps, waterproof jacket and trousers, minimum 500 ml water, emergency food, personal cup, fully charged phone and flashing lights for night running. Trail runs nearby

A 10 mile night trail run across the Simonside Hills near Rothbury on Saturday 7 February 2026. The event uses hilly, forested trails; headtorches are required and all entrants receive an event buff.
