Run the Blades

Run the Blades is a weekend trail running event held within Whitelee Wind Farm, Moor Road, Eaglesham, about 20 minutes southwest of central Glasgow. The programme covers multiple adult distances and a junior mile for under 16s.

Routes follow existing windfarm access roads and are not highly technical, though sections can be muddy or rough underfoot. The event village is located at Turbine 53 and serves as the registration area; participants collect race numbers on the day. Parking is available on site on array roads, with additional Visitor Centre parking permitted for the Friday evening element only. The Visitor Centre is one level with accessible entrances, toilets and parking.

Checkpoint and support provision includes one water station on the 10K, two on the half marathon, and four on the 50K; the 10K checkpoint is at 5K, the half at 10.4K and 16K, and the 50K at 10.4K, 22.4K, 36.5K and 45K. Drop bags are permitted for the 50K at checkpoints. Mandatory kit requirements will be detailed in the race pack; all participants must carry a mobile phone for emergencies. Poles and dogs are not allowed on the course. Top three male and female finishers in each adult distance receive a trophy and prize money. A 96 mile ultra along the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Fort William with 14,760 ft of ascent and a 35 hour time limit. Participants must be over 20, have suitable trail experience and provide motorised support.

An evening trail running festival at Calderglen Country Park on 26 June 2026, with races from a toddler dash to a 10k, chip timing, marshalled courses and an after-race buffet. A donation is made from each 5k and 10k entry.

MacTuffX Ayr on 27 June 2026 is a functional fitness race at Riverside Arena combining ten Xercises with repeated runs. Options include Classic and double distances with solo, doubles and five-person relay entries and age 18 plus.

Experience a 7.2 km hill race up Cairn Table in East Ayrshire. This chip timed event features rough terrain and unmarked routes for runners seeking a self reliant hill running experience.
