Run the Blades

Run the Blades is a weekend of trail races held within Whitelee Wind Farm near Eaglesham (Moor Road, G76 0QQ) on 17–19 July 2026. The event includes adult races and a junior mile for under 16s starting and finishing in the Event Village.

Distances:

  • 10K - rolling trail route with a hill near the end.
  • Half marathon - longer route with two intermediate checkpoints.
  • 50K ultra - four-checkpoint ultra distance.
  • Junior mile - free event for under 16s.

Routes mainly follow windfarm access roads and are not highly technical, but some sections can be muddy or rough; trail shoes are recommended. Checkpoints act as water stations: 10K has one at 5K; the half has stations at about 10.4K and 16K; the 50K has stations at about 10.4K, 22.4K, 36.5K and 45K. Each checkpoint has a portaloo and is crewed by first aid trained staff and volunteers. Drop bags are accepted for the 50K only and should contain disposable items.

Registration takes place in the Event Village at Turbine 53 where race numbers are collected on the day. There is free on-site parking; accessible facilities include single-level visitor centre access, accessible toilets and designated disabled parking by arrangement. All participants must carry a mobile phone for emergencies. Poles and dogs are not permitted on the course. Prize money and trophies are awarded to the first three male and female finishers in each adult race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
