Run the Blades is a weekend trail running event held within Whitelee Wind Farm, near Eaglesham (G76 0QQ). The event is scheduled across a Friday to Sunday in July and uses windfarm access roads as the main route surface. The site includes tall turbines and an Event Village located at Turbine 53.

Race format and routes

Routes follow existing windfarm access roads and are not highly technical, though some sections can be muddy or rough. There is one water station on the 10K, two on the half marathon and four on the 50K. Checkpoint locations are: 10K - 5K; Half - 10.4K and 16K; 50K - 10.4K, 22.4K, 36.5K and 45K. The 50K allows drop bags at checkpoints.

Logistics, facilities and rules

Registration is at the Event Village; race numbers are collected on the day. There is free on-site parking and disabled parking and accessible facilities at the Visitor Centre. The Event Village has portaloos including an accessible toilet, changing tents, bag drop and a coffee truck. All participants must carry a mobile phone for emergencies. Poles and dogs are not permitted on the course. Prizes are offered to the first three male and female finishers in each distance. Goody bags include a spinning medal, water and selected food items.
