Run the Blades

Run the Blades is a weekend trail running event held within Whitelee Wind Farm, Moor Road, Eaglesham, about 20 minutes southwest of central Glasgow. The programme covers multiple adult distances and a junior mile for under 16s.

Routes follow existing windfarm access roads and are not highly technical, though sections can be muddy or rough underfoot. The event village is located at Turbine 53 and serves as the registration area; participants collect race numbers on the day. Parking is available on site on array roads, with additional Visitor Centre parking permitted for the Friday evening element only. The Visitor Centre is one level with accessible entrances, toilets and parking.

Checkpoint and support provision includes one water station on the 10K, two on the half marathon, and four on the 50K; the 10K checkpoint is at 5K, the half at 10.4K and 16K, and the 50K at 10.4K, 22.4K, 36.5K and 45K. Drop bags are permitted for the 50K at checkpoints. Mandatory kit requirements will be detailed in the race pack; all participants must carry a mobile phone for emergencies. Poles and dogs are not allowed on the course. Top three male and female finishers in each adult distance receive a trophy and prize money. Loch Thom Trail Race on Wednesday 3rd June features a revised 5K out and back and a junior 3K around Greenock Cut Visitor Centre, with all entry fees donated to Athletics Trust Scotland.

A 50 km out and back ultramarathon along the Ayrshire Coast starting and finishing at Irvine Beach, running across beaches, promenades and trails from sunset to sunrise. Aid stations at 12, 25 and 37 km with a drop bag option at 25 km.

A Scottish Athletics affiliated *10 km* trail race in Killearn on 6 June 2026, run over mixed surfaces with about 310 ft of elevation. Entries include a technical t-shirt or vest and official bib transfers are allowed until 31 March 2026.
