Tom's Cairn Trail Races is a community organised fundraiser in Finzean on 20 September 2026 featuring trail races across estate woods and the cairn. The event includes local refreshments, a piper and live music.

An off road hill race around Bennachie near Insch covering about 8.2 miles with 500 m of ascent. Organised by Garioch Roadrunners under a Scottish Hill Runners licence, the event is chip timed and has limited entries.

An 11 km hill race near Monymusk on 26 September 2026 with 430 m of climb and pre-entry only registration; listed 2024 fees are shown and parking is at Monymusk Village Hall.

October 2026

A 50k mostly off-road ultramarathon on Bennachie with over 5000 ft of ascent, visiting multiple peaks and starting and finishing at the Bennachie Visitor Centre. Pre-entry only with 150 places and a 4 hour cut-off at about 19 miles.

A point to point trail of about 10 km from Archiestown Village Square to Cardhu Distillery on 11 October 2026, with shuttle transport, water stations, first aid and prizes for overall and veteran categories.

A Speyside running event offering marathon, half-marathon, 10 km and a four person relay along the Speyside Way, with distilleries on the route and whisky miniatures available at the finish.

An eight-hour looped trail event at Tentsmuir Forest where runners complete 4.366 mile laps to accumulate distance. Laps are timed by wrist tags; 3 laps equal a half marathon, 6 a full marathon and 7 or more an ultramarathon.

A *10 km* trail race from Auchterarder into the Ochil Hills with forest trails, stream crossings and a route shaped like a chilli pepper. Online entry, 16+ age limit, goody bag with snood and medal, prizes for finishers and costumes.

November 2026

A mixed terrain trail festival at Tentsmuir Forest near Tayport offering a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, junior 5 km and a 1.2 km family fun run with marshalled, signposted routes and charitable proceeds for the Tayport Community Trust.

A 50 km trail race on 7 November 2026 following the Dava Way from Grantown-on-Spey to Forres, mostly on the old Highland Railway line. Mixed woodland and moorland terrain, Dava Summit climbs, 300 entries and an 8 hour cutoff.

A six hour nocturnal ultra on a well marked 5 km off road loop where solo runners or teams of up to three try to complete as many laps as possible. Each lap returns to a tented base with kit, food and support plus music and lights.

The Short Course Cross Country Championships will take place in Kirkcaldy on Saturday 7 November 2026.

An eight hour loop challenge at Culbin Forest where runners repeat 4.366 mile trail laps tracked by wristband timing; lap totals equate to half, full or ultra marathon distances.

A solo 69 km trail run from Glamis Castle to Scone Palace with a marked route, checkpoints, GPS tracking and chip timing. Finishers receive a medal and meal voucher; entries for 2026 are open.

December 2026

A festive trail running event within the private grounds of Glamis Castle in Angus. Distances include a family 1 mile plus 5 mile and 10 mile runs, with Canicross allowed except in the family mile.

January 2027

A trail running festival on 3 January 2027 through Glenmore Forest finishing at Loch Morlich beach, offering 5.6 km and 11.2 km races with chip timing, finisher medals, home baking and prizes; dogs are allowed on leads.

March 2027

A *50 km* ultramarathon along the John Muir Way in East Lothian, starting at Port Seton Promenade and finishing at Foxlake Adventures in Dunbar. The route passes Aberlady, Gullane and North Berwick and follows coastal and rural trails.
