John Muir Way Nocturnal Ultra Marathon

North Berwick, United Kingdom • 7 Nov 2026

John Muir Way Nocturnal Ultra Marathon

The event is a nocturnal ultra-marathon based on a well-marked off-road loop of 5 km. Participants have six hours to complete as many laps of the loop as possible. Both solo entries and relay teams of up to three people are offered.

Laps pass a tented base on each circuit where participants can leave kit, access food and receive support. Competitor kit notes include carrying a headtorch. The event atmosphere includes music, lights, food and some campfire elements during the night.

Organisers are experienced in coordinating and directing multisport and running events. Volunteer marshals support the race across a range of duties including course checkpoints, registration, water stations, start and finish, and course set up and take down. All volunteer marshals receive a race memento and a donation towards their club or charitable group.

Route mapping and additional route details are available on MapMyRun. A race briefing document is provided for participants with event information and requirements.

Cancellation and refund arrangements are outlined for extreme weather and other circumstances. If the race is cancelled and rescheduled, entries are moved to the rescheduled date or rolled forward; a 75% refund may be available in some circumstances. Entry transfer and refund deadlines apply: transfers or partial refunds are possible before 14 days prior to the event, with no refunds within 14 days and no refunds for non attendance or during the event.
