John Muir Way Nocturnal Ultra Marathon

North Berwick, United Kingdom • 8 Nov 2025

Event overview

The John Muir Way Nocturnal Ultra Marathon takes place on 08 Nov 2025 at the John Muir Way - Balgone Estate, Balgone Barns, North Berwick EH39 5NY. Runners have six hours to complete as many laps as possible of a well-marked off-road loop of 5 km. Solo entries and team relay entries (teams of up to three) are offered. The loop passes a tented base on each lap where participants can leave kit, food, and receive support. The event is run at night and the organisers recommend trail kit and a headtorch.

The course mixes off-road surfaces and is promoted as a night-time event with music, lighting, food provisions, and on-course marshals. Volunteer marshals cover checkpoint duties, registration, water stations, start/finish area setup and take-down. All volunteer marshals receive a race memento and a donation toward their club or charitable group.
