John Muir Way Nocturnal Ultra Marathon

The John Muir Way Nocturnal Ultra Marathon takes place on 7 November 2026. The event runs over a well marked off road loop of 5 km. Participants have six hours to complete as many laps of the loop as possible, all in darkness.

Both solo entries and relay teams are available. Teams may include up to three runners who take turns on the same loop. The route passes a tented base on each lap where there is space for kit, food and support.

Participants are expected to carry appropriate trail kit and a headtorch. The event includes music, lighting and food at the base, and may include fire elements as part of the on site atmosphere.

Volunteer marshals receive a race memento and a donation towards their club or charitable group. Typical marshal duties include checkpoint marshaling, registration, manning water stations, supervising the start and finish areas, and helping with course set up and take down.

Entries are handled via EntryCentral. In extreme weather the race may be cancelled and, if possible, rescheduled with entries transferred to the new date. Refund and transfer rules vary with timing before the event, with no refunds within 14 days and no refunds given during the event. Organisers are not responsible for travel or accommodation costs if the event is cancelled. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
