Trail Running calendar near Aberfoyle 2026-2027

A half marathon through the Kilpatrick Hills near Overtoun House in Dumbarton on 14 November 2026, using single-track trails and forestry roads with rolling climbs. The race is full and a waiting list is open.

A multi-terrain ultra around the Tweed Valley based at Glentress Peel Visitor Centre in mid-November. Two route options, 65 km and 50 km, follow forest trails, riverside paths and open moorland with marked routes and aid stations.

A single 5 km race at Linn Park on 15 November 2026, part of the South By Five series across six parks. Entry is free with a required minimum donation to the Acorn Trails Community Fund.

Trail runs of 10 km, 5 km and a 1.2 km festive fun run take place at the Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill on 22 Nov 2026. Proceeds from the fun run go to Friends of the Hermitage and Braid and Morningside Primary School.

A solo 69 km trail run from Glamis Castle to Scone Palace with a marked route, checkpoints, GPS tracking and chip timing. Finishers receive a medal and meal voucher; entries for 2026 are open.

A single-entry 5 km race at Rouken Glen on 29 November 2026, part of the South By Five six-park series. Entry is free but places are limited and a mandatory donation to the Acorn Trails Community Fund applies.

December 2026

A festive trail running event within the private grounds of Glamis Castle in Angus. Distances include a family 1 mile plus 5 mile and 10 mile runs, with Canicross allowed except in the family mile.

Multiple point to point races along the West Lothian Shale Trail, from 9K to a GPS tracked 50K, plus a 3 person relay. The event supports Smalls for All and features marked routes, checkpoints and chip timing.

A 5 km community race at Pollok Park on 13 December 2026 that is part of the South By Five six-park series. Entry is free with a required donation to the Acorn Trails Community Fund and completing five of six races completes the series.

January 2027

A January running event at Loch Morlich on 3 January 2027 offering 5K, 10K and under 16s entries along Glenmore Forest and the loch shore, with chip timing, medals, awards and event photos.

A single *5 km* race at Bellahouston Park on 3 January 2027, part of the South By Five series visiting six parks. Entry is free but requires a minimum donation to the Acorn Trails Community Fund and places are limited to 65.

Trail runs at Vogrie Country Park on 17 January 2027 offer waymarked mixed terrain courses of 1.6km, 5km, 10km and a half marathon, starting and finishing by the Victorian manor house with post race refreshments.

February 2027

Trailspire Ultra 2027 is a seven hour looped endurance event in Callander Park, Falkirk, where runners aim to complete as many 4.14 mile laps as possible. Solo and 2 or 3 person relay entries include live tracking and on-course support.

A roughly 21 mile loop around the Ardgartan Peninsula near Arrochar with about 90% off road terrain, forestry trails and an open hill section. Two safety water stations are at 7 miles and 13 miles and mandatory seasonal kit is required.

An eight hour loop challenge on mixed coastal and trail terrain on 27 Feb 2027, with *4.366 mile* laps timed by electronic wristbands and lap totals equating to half, full and ultra marathon distances.

March 2027

A 50 km ultramarathon along the John Muir Way through East Lothian coast, rural trails and towns, finishing at Foxlake Adventures in Dunbar.

Trail runs at Culzean Castle on 7 March 2027 offer 5 km, 10 km and half marathon options across the estate with live chip timing. The event permits one controlled dog per runner and includes a medal, merchandise and refreshments for finishe..

April 2027

A 46 mile mountain event across three Galloway ranges with over 4000 metres of ascent. Solo runners or teams of two to four use navigation skills and face variable terrain with three manned food checkpoints and MRT support.

A two day, 60 mile off road ultramarathon on the Isle of Arran covering coastal paths, forests and mountains including Goatfell and the Bog of Doom. The route is fully waymarked and supported with pit stops and professional medical cover.
