Trail Running calendar near Thornthwaite 2026-2027

A 15.6 km route with 870 m of ascent across flagged forest tracks and open fell visiting five checkpoints, raising funds for Thornthwaite Church. Entry fee includes tea and homemade cake and limited parking is available.

A trail half marathon at Lakeland Maze Farm Park on Saturday 19th September 2026, finishing through the maze. Chip timing, aid stations, on-site parking and a cafe. Entry requires participants to be 18 or older and costs £35.

A 11.7 km Category BM fell race at Thropton Showfield in Coquetdale, held during the Thropton country show. Entry on the day only with modest fees, teams of three allowed, and proceeds support Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue.

Trail runs at Raby Castle offer 5 km, 10 km and half marathon routes through parkland with woodland and lakes, live chip timing, on-site parking and finisher medals.

A 13.1 miles trail race through Bronte Country near Haworth, organised in support of Sue Ryder, with a hilly one lap course, limited entries, and a pie and peas meal plus a race memento for finishers.

Trail 10K and Half Marathon through Hamsterley Forest on 20 September 2026, with undulating, well marked routes among pines and clearings. Chip timing, a themed medal, free photos and a serviced event village are provided.

Locomotion Trail Runs in Eaglescliffe on 20 September 2026 offers 10- and 5-mile routes partly along the original S&DR railway, with proceeds to the Great North Air Ambulance and MND and medals for all finishers.

A multi-distance trail event in the Lake District National Park, 25 to 27 September 2026, linking the region's 13 valleys with races from 22.4 km to 184.3 km, ITRA points and Western States qualifiers, plus children's Future Valleys races.

A waterside trail event in Yorkshire on 26 September 2026 with routes past seven reservoirs and three distances from 13 to 32 miles. Trackers are provided or available to hire and finishers receive a medal and an event T shirt.

Orton Fell Race is a 10 km fell event in Orton with 258 m of climb, category BS and FRA licensing under UKA rules. The programme includes senior and two junior races, team entries of three, and published entry fees and dates.

Take on the Eskdale Show fell race in the Lake District, a scenic 6.9 km course with 277 m of climb across classic fell terrain. Open to adults and juniors, with easy entry on the day for spontaneous race plans.

The North Barrule will take place in Ramsey on Saturday 26 September 2026. You can run 3 miles.

The Three Shires Fell Race is a 22 km mountain event with 1535 m of climbing. Starting from Tilberthwaite Farm, this classic fell race requires navigational skills and specific safety kit for all participants.

A senior fell race near Cliviger covering 4.3 miles (7 km) with about 1310 feet of ascent. The flagged and marshaled course runs over moorland with steep climbs and grassy descents; entry fees are £6 or £8.

A 24 hour offroad run at Leighton Hall in Cumbria on 26 September 2026. Solo, couples and team categories are available, run on a 5 km loop with alternating directions and prizes for distance and time on feet.

A single-lap 13 km BM fell race on Ilkley Moor with 370 m ascent over rocky tracks, heathery paths, a mile of road and forest sections with roots and slippery bridges. Basic facilities and FRA mandatory kit are required.

Tower to Castle Ultra 30 covers 30.9 miles from Blackpool Tower to Lancaster Castle with a ferry crossing at Fleetwood, way marked sections and compulsory checkpoints. Pre registration is required and entries close 20 September 2026.

A 30 km hill race from Traquair House to Broughton Ales across the Scottish Borders with roughly 1500 m of ascent. The route uses hill tracks and open heather, has eight marshalled checkpoints and requires mandatory emergency kit.

A charity relay in Malham on 27 September 2026 with mixed teams formed on the day and an entry fee of £5 per person. The route climbs near the summit of Cawden Hill then returns on a direct descent.

A village based fell race on 27 September 2026 covering 11.3 km with 415 m ascent. The course is marshalled and partially flagged, basic waterproof kit is required, and prizes are awarded by age category and teams.
