The 40th Two Crosses Circuit takes place on Sunday 8 March 2026. The event is for walkers and runners and follows routes via the Western Pennine reservoirs and moors. The start and finish location is Greenmount Old School Community Centre, Brandlesholme Road, Greenmount, BL8 4DS. The event is organised by LDWA - East Lancs.

Entries, rules and safety

The event is currently full and a waiting list is in use. Entries so far and waiting list numbers are recorded. Entry fees are £15 for LDWA members and £20 for non-members. Entrants must be 14 or older on the day; the 26 mile course requires entrants to be 18 or older. Under 18s are limited to the 18 mile route and must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian. No refunds or deferrals; transfers allowed before 4 March 2026. There is no entry on the day.

There is a 9 hour time limit and checkpoints have closing times; entrants arriving after a checkpoint closure may be retired. The long route includes a 7.5 mile cut-off; entrants who miss that cut-off may be diverted to the short route. All entrants must follow the route description and check in at checkpoints. Marshals may short route or retire anyone not complying with event rules or judged unfit to continue. Food at checkpoints cannot be guaranteed free from allergens.

Required equipment includes appropriate clothing and footwear, waterproofs, compass, whistle, mug and one of these maps: 1:50000 OS109 Manchester or 1:25000 West Pennine Moors Explorer 287. Electronic maps and route versions are allowed. Well behaved dogs are permitted if covered by public liability insurance and kept on a lead.
